Is 'Amanda' outdated?

My husband and I really like the name [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. It is not seen around as often now as it was 10 or more years ago, but thats what we like about it! But is it too outdated? The full name would probably be [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].

Thanks!

I think [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] makes a fine choice for a baby.

[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] is a tad dated, but really is that such a bad thing? [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] has got strong roots, a long history and it’s very uncommon right now, I don’t see anything with with it at all. [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is pretty

[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a lovely name! I think it works perfectly well

It’s dated but not necessarily a bad thing! I’d love to meet a baby [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. It’s very pretty.

I also like [name_f]Amandine[/name_f]!!

It is dated and I do prefer [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], but I still think it’s a fine choice.

It feels somewhat 1980s to me, but that is definitely not a bad thing! [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is such a beautiful name!!

[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] is one of my guilty pleasures! The only Amandas I know are in their 30s and maybe even older. I think it would be refreshing to meet a baby [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a tad simple for my taste, but still lovely. I say go for it!

I think [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] is a wonderful, forgotten classic. There is something so elegant and sweet about it. [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is beautiful!

[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] is my youngest sisters name, she’s 16 and has a friend who is 14 with the same name. so I don’t really feel like its that dated.

As someone who grew up in the 90’s, yes, it is a bit dated. I grew up with many.

It’s borderline out-dated for me. [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a lovely combo.

I know some people consider it a “mom name” now, but even though it was overused in my generation I’ve always liked it. Considering the surge of popularity it had a few decades ago it’s probably technically considered outdated, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing and in my opinion “dated” names on little kids are really cute and refreshing. It’s also currently used fairly often in some countries outside of the US & [name_f]Canada[/name_f], which I think helps a bit.

It is a little bit out dated. But, what is wrong with that? If you love [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], go for it.

I think it’s very pretty. I have a wonderful cousin named [name_f]Amanda[/name_f].

I just looked up [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]'s popularity rankings since the 1900s in the US. While it definitely peaked mid-70s to mid-90s, interestingly, it was more popular in 1900 (at 154) than it is today (316). To me, that kind of history of use keeps it from feeling “outdated” and makes it a classic name that had a spike in popularity a generation ago. If anything, using this name would make your child less “dated” than a more contemporarily popular name today, and certainly less likely to share it with a classmate–though she may end up sharing it with a classmate’s mother.

I think if you like it, you should go for it!

Not so dated maybe just a bit. [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] has a sweet and classic sound to it. I don’t think it’s dated like say [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] would be.
