Is Aramis too much?

So, we’ve had [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] on our list for a while and as we narrow it down, my husband says that he thinks [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] may be too much. Our combo was [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] which I love, but it might be too fantasy isn so I’ve been working on some other combos for both [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] and [name_u]Falcon[/name_u]. We also have [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] on our list.

What do you think? Is [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] too much for a first name? What would you pair it with?

[name_m]Aramis[/name_m] is on my guilty pleasure list…DH and I have discussed it before but he doesn’t like the character enough to use it. I’d probably have to agree that the [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] pairing is too much. Pair it with something classic or maybe a simple surname with meaning ([name_u]Paine[/name_u] for example if you happen to be a fan of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Paine[/name_u]?)

I’m currently conducting a poll and am surprised how many people like [name_u]Ari[/name_u] so far…so perhaps [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] can be usable these days, especially with nickname [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. Honestly, with all of these babies with “creatively” spelled names and “boys names on girls” (two trends I personally detest) I say to hell with it, go with what you love. [name_m]Aren[/name_m]'t we all holding back by not using D’Artagnan anyway? hehe.

I don’t think [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] is too much as long as you use a more common, understated middle. And there’s always the possibility of the more wearable [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nickname, as @orchid_lover suggested. You mentioned you liked [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m]… have you considered [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]? It’s a beautiful combination of the two [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I think it’s right on the line. I think [name_f]Aris[/name_f] is wearable, but [name_m]Aramis[/name_m], with that extra syllable and exclusively literary origin, seems maybe a bit too much. I think if you love it, it would be okay with a mainstream middle. [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] is too much, in my opinion. It’s two very unusual names, and together I think they’re a bit much. I see [name_u]Logan[/name_u] on your list, and [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] [name_u]Logan[/name_u] sounds great to me. The familiar, unobjectionable [name_u]Logan[/name_u] really balances out the risky [name_m]Aramis[/name_m]. I think [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] works as well. [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] isn’t nearly as popular as [name_u]Logan[/name_u], but it has familiar sounds and fits the two-syllable n-ending boys name formula that is very comfortable to American ears, so a wilder middle name works fine.

[name_m]Aramis[/name_m] [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] is just plain cool!

[name_m]Aramis[/name_m] [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] sounds like a fantasy video game character. It isn’t very versatile. I would choose a different middle name to ground [name_m]Aramis[/name_m].

I think that [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] is too much
