Is Arden trendy?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again!
I’m adding to my list and came across [name_u]Arden[/name_u] in a baby book. However, because of the ending -den, is it considered trendy?
Thanks for any advice!

I think it is a little trendy, not overly because its not incredibly popular. I feel in love with this name a long, long time ago, I find it quite refreshing and its familar; but not heard on every second child. Great choice

Thank you sodallas3  I’m still debating, I’m not a trendy fan for anything so… I guess I’ll have to think about it. Thanks again!

I think it’s quite cute, and definitely not trendy enough to cause any issues yet. I’d say it’s along the lines of [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] or [name_u]Leighton[/name_u], and nowhere near the likes of [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] or [name_u]London[/name_u].

Sounds perfect to me  thanks

No problem  I often follow popularity of names (I’m also not keen on the use of top 100 names, unless they’re true classics I can’t let go of, like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]), and, in the past 13 years, [name_u]Arden[/name_u] has never cracked the top 1000 in the USA. I think you’re definitely ok on the trendy front!

EDIT: I just looked it up, in 2012, Arden ranked 1114 in the US

I don’t think so. It’s on a bit of an increase in popularity but hasn’t taken off–still only 221 (females) on the SSA list last year. Not an exponential increase–and that is what I think is quintessentially “trendy” (like [name_u]Arya[/name_u]). Since [name_u]Arden[/name_u] ends in “n” which has been so common for boys, it feels somewhat unisex and is used on both genders, although girls had it in a 3:1 ratio last year.

Thank you for looking at that! I actually prefer names out of the top 100 too. However, I shoot for out of the top 500 or so. But, like you, I make a few exceptions. For me those exceptions are for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is so adorable too!

Thank you for checking and linking the links! I’m glad it’s not trendy. I actually would use it on a boy too but like the idea of [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a nickname because the meaning has something to do with eagles. Thanks again!

It’s a boy names so I would say boy names on girls is a trend. It makes me think of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] & [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] and it also makes me think of [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] & [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] and has a bit of [name_f]Arwen[/name_f]/[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] vibe to it. If you consider those names trendy I guess so since it’s in the same league for me at least. I think [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] feels less trendy & more distinctly feminine.

Aww, thanks for looking. I’d say that’s the perfect popularity for me. The less popular, the better  Thanks again [name_u]Haley[/name_u]!

No problem! I love researching names

I would say [name_u]Arden[/name_u] is on trend but not trendy. Other examples of ‘on trend’ would be [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Alba[/name_f]. Like [name_u]Arden[/name_u], they haven’t broken the top 1000 in decades but their similarity to popular names ([name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]; [name_f]Alba[/name_f] - [name_f]Ava[/name_f]) makes them seem current
