[name_f]Arietta[/name_f] (are-ee-ett-ah) is a name that was used once in my family several generations ago. I have grown rather fond of the sound, and the combination [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] is currently at the top of my list.
However, I am wondering if it is too “frilly” and long. Both names are quite feminine (which really too much of a problem for me, as I love feminine sounding names), and altogether the combo has 6 syllables. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the combo [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Arietta[/name_f], and [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] by itself, are too much?
I really like this name! It reminds me of [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], a name that has been growing on me for a few weeks now, and [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f], the lively protagonist from The Borrowers.
I would risk it if the last name was very short, but really anything more than 3-4 letters in the last name would be over kill. It is a VERY flowy, long name all together. Maybe pick one for the first and a new nickname? I like both.
I do think [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] is a bit much as a combo, but [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] with something shorter would be lovely. I can’t decide whether the frilliness is as big a problem as the syllable count - that’s what’s throwing me. For example, [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] would flow much better [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
Definitely not too much in my opinion. Coincidentally, I love [name_f]Arietta[/name_f], and my combo is [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_u]Rue[/name_u]!
For me, it is too much but I really like [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] - my first thought was to [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] in The Borrowers, too. The previously mentioned [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Arietta[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo though.
