Is Aurelia too popular?

I’ve recently noticed that [name]Aurelia[/name] is rising in popularity. Is it becoming too popular? I won’t use a name that people think is unique, and I think that’s what people feel this is. I need something uncharted, but not if everyone loves it.

[name]Do[/name] you think it’s to popular? Any suggestions?

I don’t think that you should back down from using a cool name even if it is becoming more popular by the second. I mean, I wouldn’t use [name]Katniss[/name] or anything like that, but I think [name]Aurelia[/name], despite becoming more popular, is still not that well known, and is a very beautiful name. [name]Just[/name] because a whole lot of people like it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it. It’s still very unusual, and I think the popularity of the name shouldn’t effect your use of it if you think it is a fitting name for your character.

I know that, but it’s awfully close to [name]Amelia[/name], and that’s a girl I know. I’d rather not name her anything close to that… Oh, what am I to do??!

[name]Aurelia[/name] is very different from [name]Amelia[/name], but some other A- alternatives are:

[name]Audrey[/name]/ [name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Amber[/name]
[name]Abree[/name]
[name]Adriana[/name]/ [name]Adrienne[/name]
[name]Amarissa[/name]
[name]Amaryllis[/name]

I hope that helped!

I’ve never met an [name]Aurelia[/name], baby or adult, in person or online, so I don’t think it’s too popular. Here in the deep south (GA), [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] are the popular “A” names.

[name]Amaryllis[/name] is cool though.

 I like nature names, and [name]Amaryllis[/name] came to mind (if you don’t know, it’s a flower)

I haven’t met anyone named [name]Aurelia[/name], most people with a name close to that are [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], or [name]Aubrey[/name] (I also know an [name]Audra[/name])

[name]Aurelia[/name] hasn’t been in the top 1000 since the 1950s in the US, so if you live there, you’re fine :). I’ve read a few books with a character called [name]Aurelia[/name], but haven’t met any in real life.

Where are you looking when you’re saying it’s becoming “popular”? It might be somewhat popular here on berry lists but it’s nowhere near being popular in real life.

[name]Aurelia[/name] is a beautiful name and gets more attention on Nameberry than on real people’s short lists. I know two Ariels, an [name]Arielle[/name], and an [name]Aprielle[/name], but I’ve never met any one named [name]Aurelia[/name]. I don’t expect this name will ever hit the top 100 in the US, unless you write the next cult-following teen fiction series that influences the next generation of parents.

My daughter is 3 & 1/2 and her name is [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]… We love it!

[name]Don[/name]'t let popularity change your mind! If the name fits the character, keep it!

I’ve never met an [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], which is part of why I love the name. I hope it’s just popular on Nameberry and not elsewhere.

Wait, are you kidding? [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] isn’t in the Top 1000, and while it might squeak onto the list this year, I don’t think it will bound up the charts. Right now it is the near opposite of popular- rare. Popular on Nameberry doesn’t equal popular in real life.

The only way I could see [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] making an [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] like jump from obscurity would be if a bearer of the name became suddenly famous, more than one prominent celebrity used it for a daughter, or a pop culture character with the name became mega-popular. None of these things can be predicted. All are unlikely. You should use the name if you love it, and if it does become popular down the line due to unforeseen circumstances, at least you were ahead of the curve.

If you like the name but want a less popular version, you could try [name_f]Orelia[/name_f]. Sounds the same, different spelling.
