Is Aurora hard to say?

Is it a tongue-twister? Does this make you like the name less?

yes.
Honestly, it’s the main reason I’m not fond of the name.
Aside from it being a tad princessy.

In [name]Britain[/name] it’s really easy to say, in the vast majority of our accents anyway, I can’t think of one that would have a problem with it. I think this one definitely depends on accents though.

My oldest is friends with an [name]Aurora[/name] and yes, she stumbles over her name as does many of her friends. I can say it if I talk slowly, but I like being able to say my own children’s names quickly, lol.

I love [name]Aurora[/name]! It’s a MN for my top choice for a girl. It would be a FN consideration for me, but for me, it is a tongue-twister with my surname. I have no troubles with [name]Aurora[/name] on its own, but [name]Aurora[/name] [[name]Roberts[/name]] is just too many "R"s for me.

I love [name]Aurora[/name] and ended up taking it off my list for that exact reason. I would still use it if our last name was easy, but it is a tongue twister too. The two tongue twisters together is a bit much.

Yeah, it’s hard for me to say. Pretty name but I could never use it

For me, no it’s not hard to say at all. IDK why but that wouldn’t even occur to me with that name.

For me, yes. When I see the name it looks so pretty, but I say it aloud it almost sounds like “ah wrawr wah” if that makes sense lol I have to say it slowly

Yes. It looks pretty but the pronunciation is very awkward, and nn [name]Rory[/name] even more so. It reminds me of that episode of 30 [name]Rock[/name] about “The Rural Juror.” Haha! But yeah, the awkward sound keeps me from liking it.

I nanny a 3-year-old girl who has had some “trouble” pronouncing certain letters (I surmise she was simply never completely/seriously corrected on these muddled letters until recently, but she IS only 3 and this will happen) – we are still working on cementing the hard ‘C’ sound.
However, she has said the name “[name]Aurora[/name]” very clearly for as long as I can recall, and I have been with her for almost a year now!
I have never had a problem saying it, either, and I think it’s very feminine and usable.

I have no trouble saying it! It’s beautiful.

Oh I love [name]Aurora[/name], but yes, I find it awkward. I’d use it in the middle if I ever used it.

It is a bit of a tongue twister for many but I love this name so much it doesn’t much bother me. I might love it more for it’s slightly awkward harsher r sounds.

I find that if I try to say it with the “au” sound, it is difficult, but if I say “OH-ror-a”, it results in the same sound (because of the way I talk, I guess – I’m sure this wouldn’t be true for everyone) and it’s much easier to say. So I guess that’s sort of a yes for me, but I’ve found ways around it because I love it so much. This one is still on my list, despite my husband saying “It sounds like I’m trying to say something with my mouth full.” I’m hoping it will grow on him.

Ha! My DH and I love that episode.

No no no. I have said this on many posts about this name. I taught kindergarten for many years, and I had a little adorable girl named [name]Aurora[/name]. Not one of my students had any problem pronouncing this name. This was not in a school with upper middle class kids who had command of phonemes and language. It is NOT hard to pronounce. She was a bright, engaging child and all the kids loved her.

I like the name, but have always had problems saying my r’s. I could never use it.

I don’t find it hard to pronounce, it’s quite a lovely name!

You know what, I think it is! I actually really like the name (and love the nn [name]Rory[/name]), but I do have trouble pronouncing it.
