Is Becky usable?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] interested in opinions after reading posts on the usability of [name_f]Karen[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Becky[/name_f] is usable, it’s fun and cute,

I’ve met a [name_u]Beck[/name_u], it was totally fine for her

I don’t think the [name_f]Becky[/name_f] thing is as big as the [name_f]Karen[/name_f] meme

I think [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Becky[/name_f] is usable but [name_f]Becky[/name_f] as a name in her own right isn’t. As soon as I saw [name_f]Becky[/name_f] my mind went to [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] line of ‘better call [name_f]Becky[/name_f] with the good hair’ :joy::woman_facepalming:t3: so clearly for me [name_f]Becky[/name_f] isn’t usable whereas [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] ‘Becky’ feels different.

I personally don’t like [name_f]Becky[/name_f]. [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f], yes or just [name_u]Beck[/name_u] or [name_u]Beckett[/name_u], but [name_f]Becky[/name_f] on its own just doesn’t do it for me. Totally different than [name_f]Karen[/name_f] though

Beck > Becky

Totally! I associate it with [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], which I think is a decent association. It also has a tough, tomgirl, pioneer image for me. I think [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] is still useable, too, or even something like [name_m]Becket[/name_m] – I mean, that would be adorable.

[name_f]Becky[/name_f] on its own does have a mild negative pop culture connotation in my view (I did hear it used in a similar context to [name_f]Karen[/name_f] years ago), but I don’t know if it’s unusable.

It is a name that I feel like has a mild pop culture stigma (from the older ‘omg, [name_f]Becky[/name_f] look at her butt, to the ‘Becky with the good hair’ references)

It feels a little too soon for it but It would be surprising on a little girl nowadays, and I could see it in the not too distant future making a come back unlike [name_f]Karen[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Becky[/name_f] personally and haven’t heard anyone use the [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f] reference in years  I think it’s fine to use, as your future Becky’s generation would be even less likely to know/use the reference.
