How do you feel about the name Buck for a boy? Is it a good nature name for a boy like Rock? What would you choose as a middle name for Buck (and/or Rock)?
I wouldn’t use [name_m]Buck[/name_m]. Too many negative associations (buck teeth, rhymes with the F word, racist connotations). I can see the boy getting teased about it. [name_m]Rock[/name_m] isn’t my style either but I think it’s preferable to [name_m]Buck[/name_m].
If you really loved it, it could work there’s nothing wrong with the name itself, however I would avoid it personally, with it’s very popular and unpleasant rhyming word that I feel in conversation it would be very easily misheard as, and even though kids these days are generally less likely to tease someone about their name, I would worry this one would be too tempting/easy
Agree with previous posters. I am not a fan of [name_m]Buck[/name_m] or names like [name_u]Puck[/name_u], [name_m]Huck[/name_m] etc. You can use [name_u]Beck[/name_u] if you want.
the good thing about [name_m]Buck[/name_m] is that it’s commonly used as a nickname unrelated to the given name! So you could absolutely use [name_m]Buck[/name_m] as a nickname for anything. I think that solves the issues, because he can choose to go by his actual name instead to avoid any teasing or negative associations!
I like [name_m]Buck[/name_m] as a nickname !
If I was using [name_m]Buck[/name_m] I would put it with a name with a long history
[name_m]Buck[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Buck[/name_m] [name_u]William[/name_u]
[name_m]Buck[/name_m] [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Buck[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u]
I would not.
I like [name_u]Beck[/name_u] a lot, though!
I think it’s ok! I know a little [name_m]Buck[/name_m] who goes almost exclusively by [name_m]Bucky[/name_m] and it’s pretty cute!
It’s alright, as a teacher I don’t imagine the school agers teasing over this too much. I just don’t really like the sound lol. [name_m]Buchanan[/name_m] nn [name_m]Buck[/name_m] or [name_m]Bucky[/name_m] is cute, though!
I don’t like it. It’s good as a nickname, but it sounds really harsh on its own to me. It feels quite wordy— I think of bucks (animal), bucks (dollars), and buck (verb). [name_m]Buchanan[/name_m] nn [name_m]Buck[/name_m] / [name_m]Bucky[/name_m] is great to me, agreed with above poster!
Same goes for [name_m]Rock[/name_m]. Doesn’t feel like a name. [name_u]Rocco[/name_u] or Rockford (I know a Rockford who goes by [name_u]Rocky[/name_u], actually!) nn [name_m]Rock[/name_m] / [name_u]Rocky[/name_u] is nicer to me.
I would call him [name_m]Buckminster[/name_m] then use [name_m]Buck[/name_m] and [name_m]Bucky[/name_m] as nns.
I would use other names you like and keep [name_m]Buck[/name_m] and [name_m]Rock[/name_m] as nicknames. [name_m]Buck[/name_m] could be a general nickname no matter what the given name is, but it would work particularly well with any name that starts with a B, [name_m]Brandon[/name_m], [name_u]Beckett[/name_u], [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], etc. [name_m]Rock[/name_m] would go well as a nickname for [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u].
