Is Butterscotch too ridiculous?

This is going to sound like a dumb question but is Butterscotch usable as a middle name? I like the name [name_f]Bonita[/name_f] Butterscotch but it sounds like she belongs on the [name_f]Strawberry[/name_f] Shortcake crew. Is it too out there?

[name_f]Strawberry[/name_f] Shortcake is exactly what I thought of! Butterscotch does have wonderful warm and sweet connotations, but I do think it’s a bit too extra. I don’t think any child would appreciate dealing with that name. A good name for a pet though!

Too much for me I’m afraid, particularly in an alliterative combination and with an unusual first name like [name_f]Bonita[/name_f].

It sounds very very sweet and I absolutely understand why you like it! I like it too! :sunny: But realistically, I think that name could potentially make life more difficult. I imagine it would be difficult to be taken seriously in some professional fields. :pensive: The world is changing, but slowly. I mean, that child’s future boss could be in her 50s already now.

Definitely feels like one of the names that would be used on a celebrity baby and the entire internet would laugh at it. Maybe Butterscotch could be a nickname? That way you can use it but it’s not on their official documents

Sounds like the name of a cartoon character, not a real person.

I agree it’s too much, especially with the alliteration of [name_f]Bonita[/name_f]. It’s a cute nickname though.

Agreed with the others - it’s much too much! [name_f]Bonita[/name_f] Butterscotch would be a lovely name for a bunny, a cat, I think.

echoing the above! I think Butterscotch could make for a sweet family nickname for [name_f]Bonita[/name_f], but putting it on the birth certificate feels like courting cruelty :pensive:

I’m sorry but any name that starts with “Butt” just seems like a recipe for mockery.

Yes, sorry! But I do love the suggestion of using it as a family nickname for a [name_f]Bonita[/name_f] - that’s so cute.

It would make the best name for a character in a book! I can definitely see a children’s book about [name_f]Bonita[/name_f] Butterscotch
