I’ve really loved the name [name]Calder[/name] for a while now, but I’d like to hear some thoughts on it before I consider using it, thanks
I’ve never heard of it before. My immediate association was with calderas -the craters you get in volcanoes. Not really my style but it’s growing on me, especially with the nn [name]Cal[/name]
It fits the surname trend and I think it is fine. I like the sound of it. Makes me think of the [name]Calder[/name] trophy in the NHL.
I like [name]Calder[/name] quite a bit. It has a very natural feel due to its meaning, and I think the nn [name]Cal[/name] is quite handsome. I go to [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Calder[/name] straightaway, but I don’t think that’s really a bad association…
It’s been on my list for a few years now. It’s just a water name to me but there is the famous artist [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Calder[/name]
I’ve met only one- a surgeon who’s in his 70s now. The first time he introduced himself, the name sounded fabulous to my ears. I filed it away until I was expecting our first child. It went all the way to the hospital with us! It would be a top 3 contender for me now too…it has all the makings of the current trends with none of the popularity. Winner
[name]Love[/name] it. Sounds distinguished, crisp, and modern. [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Calder[/name] is a great namesake- he’s famous for his mobiles (hello instant nursery motif for a baby named [name]Calder[/name]!) but his Circus pieces are my favorite.
I know of a teenage [name]Calder[/name], and it doesn’t seem like a strange name on it him at all. It seems very easily wearable. I definitely think it’s usable.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
[name]Calder[/name] is now being added to the short list, does anyone have any middle name suggestions or names similar in style for sibling names?
[name]Alexander[/name] [name]Calder[/name] immediately came to mind. I’s ok as a mn, but unless it has a family connection, I find it pretentious and trying too hard.
I think it’s very usable. My boyfriend’s brother’s name is [name]Calder[/name]. His middle name is [name]Ashton[/name].
Yeah, it immediately makes me think of a spoiled rich kid.
I’m with uselesskitty. As a hockey fan the first thing I thought was, ‘like the NHL’s rookie of the year trophy.’ Depending on where you live that association could be wide spread or just a couple hockey fans. If you live in [name]Canada[/name] (or possibly very close to the border) I’d expect that the response "Calder, like the NHL trophy to be much more common then anywhere else. With the name, personally the trophy is just to big an association to me personally, but if you aren’t a hockey fan you probably wouldn’t have that issue with the name.
I like [name]Calder[/name] and I think I would be usable.
