Be honest [name_f][/name_f]- Is Ceciliana too much? [name_f]My[/name_f] husband suggested it the other day, and to be honest it sounds absolutely gorgeous and I can’t get it off my mind. But is it too much for real life?
[name_f][/name_f]
For extra context [name_f][/name_f]-
[name_f][/name_f]
The baby I’m currently carrying is probably going to be named [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] if it’s a girl, unless we find a name we love more.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Liana[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
Our son’s name is [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] (so, NOT exactly and long or elaborate name.)
It is elaborate, there’s no getting around that, but I wouldnt say it’s any more elaborate than [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] etc.
[name_f][/name_f]
So I wouldnt say it’s too elaborate to be usable, it would just depend on if its too elaborate for you. It is definitely different in style than [name_m]Greyson[/name_m], but that’s not always a deal breaker.
It’s certainly a big name, but I don’t think it’s necessarily too much – there are a lot of popular [name_f][/name_f] girls’ names that have that same long, grand feeling (Alexandria, [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f], etc) which helps. It’s very elegant and pretty. Plus it has lots of shorter nickname options.
[name_f][/name_f]
I do think people will assume you specifically elaborated on [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] in order to incorporate your own name, which I think is totally fine if that’s part of why you like Ceciliana, but otherwise might be an odd coincidence. I also do think [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] on its own pairs better with [name_m]Greyson[/name_m], though.
Ceciliana does feel like it’s too much for me—somehow Ana-Cecilia as a double barrel seems less so? [name_f][/name_f] I do love the reference to [name_f]Liana[/name_f], but I personally would opt for just [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] I don’t know that it’s any more than [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], etc., and is definitely usable—I just love simple [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] And I really like [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] and just [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] as siblings. [name_f][/name_f] I do definitely think it could work—I just like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] more myself.
I feel the same as the others. It’s certainly pretty. Not too over the top to venture into the “made-up”. But I prefer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] on its own with [name_m]Greyson[/name_m].
While Ceciliana is not “too much” on its own, I don’t think it balances with bro’s name as well as Cecilia. If you both decide you truly love it, go for it.
But I would personally use Ceciliana as the middle if I really loved it and try to balance the first name with bro’s name. That’s me, though. I think you’ll be fine either way.
Ceciliana is gorgeous!! I personally love long frilly names, and I think this is a great way to honor you!! [name_f][/name_f]That being said, I do think it’s really close to your name to the point where it may be confusing if both are said “Liana & Ceciliana” sound very close to me. I think it’s gorgeous, but would probably work better as a middle!!
[name_f]My[/name_f] immediate thought was Sicilian and then Silly [name_f][/name_f]- I’m not sure if I like the sound as much as [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] (which, to me, is slower and prettier). Also you might get the nicknames Ceci/Ceci anyway (ie the [name_f]Liana[/name_f] bit isn’t even used) or her friends start calling her [name_f]Liana[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- your name.
[name_f][/name_f]
To honour [name_f]Liana[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]. [name_f]Or[/name_f] maybe [name_f]Liliana[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
Otherwise [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] for sure! (Or [name_f]Liana[/name_f] as middle name [name_f][/name_f]- even [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] Liana.)
For me personally–yes it’s a little too much. That’s not to say it’s not pretty, though! Realistically, it is usable. And you should do whatever feels right for your child!
[name_f][/name_f]
But my brain gets a little overwhelmed even by [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and most names anding in -ia let alone -iana. But of course, that’s just me! [name_m]An[/name_m] alternative to me would be along the lines of [name_f]Viviana[/name_f].
