[name_f]Claire[/name_f] was one of the first names DH said he liked and now that we are getting closer and closer to having our first child (we’ve been TTC for a while now but things are starting to move along more quickly!) I am once again considering it. My only problem is that we will be using [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], after my mom, as the middle name and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] sounds awfully similar to the first syllable in [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Claire[/name_f] just too similar to use with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]? And just to throw it out there, what are your thoughts on [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]?
I really like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and its not too hard for me to say, but [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] ends up being [name_f]Clara[/name_f] Claroline. If you really love the name I think you should still use it, especially since [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a family name.
I think it has a nice sound, especially [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but it’s definitely a bit of a tongue-twister. I end up wanting to just say Claraline. But I don’t think that’s a dealbreaker unless you’re the type of family that frequently uses both in conversation.
I don’t like the sound of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I think it sounds great!
I think it’s a fine - if you’ve ever read [name_u]Abby[/name_u] Sandel’s blog posts on here her daughter’s name is [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] (but goes by [name_f]Clio[/name_f] since [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a family name).
It’s doable since you wouldn’t be saying the names together too often.
Short answer? Yes. I think it’s too confusing, especially for me as a lover of pretty combos. [name_f]Klaire[/name_f] with a K is slightly better. But there is so much else you could do to honor a [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
A name with the same meaning
A name similar in sound
The person your honoring’s middle name
Another name she liked
Or you could honor a different family member.
Good luck!
Its not that [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] sounds matchy, to me they don’t seem to flow very well. I think [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] sounds a little better. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] works better then [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].
I definitely don’t think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is too rhymey - the differing ‘a’ sounds of ‘air’ and ‘ah’ mean that only the hard ‘c’ sound is repeated, and I’ve been coming around to alliterative names recently. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is also lovely, so I think I would have to make the choice between them based on the surname.
I don’t think the flow is too much a tongue twister. And honestly, how often are you going to be saying her first and middle together? I don’t think it would be often enough to make it a huge issue. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] sounds good to me!
