We love [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]June[/name] “[name]Cora[/name]” but I’m worried the other names are classic yet easily modern whereas lots of people point out to me how old-fashioned [name]Cordelia[/name] sounds. Does it fit? And do the two C names clash? Thanks so much
Not at all! It’s a stunning name and I think it works well with the vintage charm of [name]Violet[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]. [name]Christian[/name] is the most modern classic of the names, but [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Christian[/name] share a first letter and sound really cute together on their own. I love the name [name]Cordelia[/name], but DH vetoed it–like he does all my favorites. You have a beautiful name there. Use it!
I think [name]Cordelia[/name] is fine with [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Christian[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]. It’s a Shakespearean name like [name]Audrey[/name] ([name]Viola[/name] is also a name the [name]Bard[/name] used to so [name]Violet[/name] is similar) and sounds English like [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]. I think it’s a wonderful choice.
BTW - just noticed the pic of your daughter Felicity! What a little beauty!
I think once they see or meet a little girl named [name]Cordelia[/name] it will make it seem less “old fashioned”. I used to feel that way about names like [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name], and now, even though I have only ever met one or two with those names it changed my opinion of them.
I think [name]Cordelia[/name] is a timeless, beautiful choice, and it goes perfectly with your other children’s names. Also, using [name]Cora[/name] as a nickname definitely makes it more contemporary. [name]Love[/name]!
[name]Violet[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], and [name]Jude[/name] are at least as old sounding as [name]Cordelia[/name]. If you are intent on modernizing the name, plain old [name]Cora[/name] would be both modern and vintage enough to fit into the sibset.
