[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries! I keep coming back to [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] or even [name_m]Cosimo[/name_m] for a little boy…I think it’s so cute but I don’t know if it’s too out there.
I tend to like names that are maybe a bit too much. For example, I always liked [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m] and [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] for boys, and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] for girls. I’m wondering if [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] is usable or if I just need to get back down to earth
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] screams dog name. I also immediately think of the magazine, the drink, and the character from Fairly Odd Parents. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] it isn’t usable but I’m sure some will say it is. I am around kids all the time with my own and I have a really hard time picturing one named [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] (and I hear a lot of interesting names) and I have an even harder time picturing an adult.
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] is a little too much for me. It reminds me of the Fairly Odd Parents. [name_m]Cosimo[/name_m] seems slightly more usable somehow, but still very out there.
I like names that are a little out there—[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m] is super cool, [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is on my list—but Kramer is all I can think of when I hear the name [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] can’t take it seriously at all.
I’ve never met a dog named [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m]…
I think its a cool name and I would definitely use it. The associations don’t put me off…they aren’t that bad. Afterall [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] was an adulterous queen and [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] a wizard those names are very tied to one character.
I came across [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] while looking for a [name_u]Mo[/name_u] nickname. My father in law has a terrible name to bestow upon any grandchild but his nn is [name_u]Mo[/name_u] so I thought if I can find a name I like dh and I might have a ‘little [name_u]Mo[/name_u]’ one day
So [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] is on my list.
But I am a daring namer my dd is [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and my ds is [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] (shock! horror! like the serial killer? Still a cool name. His contempories will have no idea about the tv series).
So keep it on your list with the handsome [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m] and [name_m]Merlin[/name_m]
I like Cosmo and I think it’s totally usable. In my opinion, there is no such thing as animal names or human names. Nowadays, people are naming/want to name their kids Everest, Apollo, Zephyr, Atlas. The barrier between what people call “animal names” and “human names” is getting thinner and thinner. People always tell me that I will give my kids “dog’s names” haha, I absolutely don’t mind, dogs are cute.
I know many kids named Cash, Max, Bentley, Hunter, Rex, Finn, Rufus, Otis, Jasper, Oliver, and probably as many dogs named like that. They don’t seem to be bothered (the kids, obviously the dogs don’t mind either :p).
Anyways, Cosmo is not less wearable than Orion, Celeste, Aster, Jupiter, Lysithea, Cassiopeia, Luna, Selena or Sky. Keep it on your list if you like it
I’m not sure about the name myself, but I have known one [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], so it can be done. It helped that the boy himself was a little out there and alternative. Go for it if you like it!
