Dmitri has such an intriguing sound – strong and refine yet gentle and unusual too
I think it could work – it might be surprising but not weird, especially with other Russian names now being familiar? Maybe it helps that it has its roots more broadly in Ancient Greek? Or that Dimitri is also used in France, Georgia, Belgium and the UK – while Dmitiri is used a lot in Estonia and Moldova – and also in the US and Canada and beyond – so it has seen more global usage?
