At the moment, [name]Edward[/name] is my absolute favourite boy name. I like it because it’s powerful and strong with a great history, and I’ve never read Twilight (and don’t want to). When I hear the name, I think of kings before vampires even cross my mind, but I was wondering if it was too strongly connected to the books for other people.
Like you say, it’s a name with a great history–and one that started far before Twilight. Twilight may be the flavor of the moment, but it’ll fade, and the association with [name]Edward[/name] will fade, too.
In the next 5 years, Twilight will be long gone and the next thing will be popular. [name]Edward[/name] has a rich history and I too think of Kings before vampires. It’s not my favorite [name]Ed[/name]- name, and if you are really worried about it you could try [name]Edmund[/name] or [name]Edwin[/name], but it’s still handsome and strong.
No. It’s not unusual enough for it to be too tied to the books/movies. If you went with that one name Renesme for a daughter, that would seem very Twilight obsessed.
It’s a Classic name. People are still using [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Ronald[/name], after [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. All of the forms of [name]Isabella[/name] are still going strong. Classic names are Always on the table no matter what’s going on in Pop Culture at the moment.
No. Not too tied to Twilight whatsoever, for all the reasons mentioned above.
Twilight ruined the name for me forever … I wasn’t too attached to it before Twilight, but I might’ve been later on in life if it hadn’t been for the books. Same with [name]Isabella[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name].
It’s a classic. You can’t go wrong with [name]Edward[/name].
I have a close friend named [name]Edward[/name], and I’m pretty sure no one’s ever made a Twilight reference!
No, [name]Edward[/name] is a classic. It was popular before Twilight and will continue to be so after its popularity dies down.
No, I don’t think so.
My friend named her son [name]Edward[/name] a little over a year ago, and now I associate the name with him and not sparkly vampires. Any little [name]Edward[/name] will make the name his own
Personally I don’t think so. But if you are worried about it you could go for [name]Edmund[/name] instead. I have to predict that the fanatical Twilight hysteria will die away long before your little [name]Edward[/name] would have to worry about it, just like no one named [name]Brittany[/name] has to worry about being teased about the Spears connection.
No. And if [name]Bella[/name] had been named a perennial classic like [name]Elizabeth[/name], it wouldn’t be permanently linked to her like [name]Bella[/name] is.
[name]Edward[/name] is absolutely not too tied to Twilight. It is a handsome classic that was well-used long before Twilight. [name]Cullen[/name] may be too tied to Twilight, but [name]Edward[/name] certainly isn’t.
[name]Don[/name]'t pass up [name]Edward[/name]! It’s wonderful! [name]Edward[/name] is NOT reminiscent of Twilight to me at all. [name]Edward[/name]'s long, established history transcends anything of the sort. The name was established centuries before Twilight and it will continue to be a classic boy’s name long after Twilight is forgotten.
I have read the books and watched the movies - and i still would NEVER think or assume that someone named their son [name]Edward[/name] after the character in the book. Its a name thats been around forever! wouldnt let twilight ruin it for you.
