Is Elizabeth too boring?

So DH did not agree to the double name [name]Mary[/name] [name]Morgan[/name], we’re having such a difficult time agreeing on a name! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
The only one we both keep coming back to is [name]Elizabeth[/name]- we can’t agree on a nickname so it would be just [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Absolutely no [name]Liz[/name], [name]Lizzie[/name], [name]Beth[/name] etc.
I love the timeless classic, but is Elzabeth too boring or “safe”?

Other names I love that he has vetoed:
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Gray[/name]
[name]Blair[/name]
[name]Phillipa[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Adair[/name]

The other names still on the table:
[name]Morgan[/name] (family name)
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - [name]Mary[/name] [name]Beth[/name]

Thanks, Berries!

Well - [name]Lilibet[/name] is a nn for [name]Elizabeth[/name] too?

[name]Elizabeth[/name] has never really been my cup of tea, i have to admit, but that’s purely because of bad association with a girl who happened to have that name!

I don’t think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is boring - I think it’s regal!

Not boring in the slightest! It’s gorgeous. I would definitely use [name]Bette[/name] (“betty”) once in a while.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Morgan[/name]

I agree, it sounds regal! What about [name]Eliza[/name] or [name]Liza[/name] as nicknames?

I agree with emmabobemma and her suggestion of [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Morgan[/name]. A less common spelling is [name]Elisabeth[/name], maybe an option?

I find that [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a bit boring, and it only seems to fit on older women say 40+. What about “[name]Eliza[/name]” as a variation or my more favourite “[name]Elise[/name]”. Then the nickname could be slightly softer & more feminine. Here are some nicknames for both.

NN for [name]Eliza[/name]:
[name]Liza[/name] (ly-zah)
[name]Eli[/name] (ee-ly)
[name]Els[/name] (ehl-zz)

NN for [name]Elise[/name]:
[name]Els[/name] (ehl-ss)
[name]Lise[/name] (lee-ss)
[name]Lisa[/name]/[name]Leisa[/name] (when she is older-so obviously this would be her choice, but I wouldn’t use it)
Lisey (lee-see)

NN for [name]Both[/name]:
[name]Elle[/name]/[name]El[/name]
[name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Eli[/name]

I still think that [name]Elise[/name] is softer, more feminine, prettier and sweeter then [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Elouise[/name] & [name]Elizabeth[/name]. It is definitley a name that I would choose out of these names, or even if I saw it without the others. I love it!!

I don’t think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is boring at all, in fact it is the only top 20 name on my list. Most of the other names don’t even make it into the top 100. My son’s name isn’t even in the top 1000! [name]Elizabeth[/name] is popular and common, but I think it is lovely, classic and respectable.

I find it extremely boring. You hear it everywhere.

I don’t think you should rule out any name because it is “boring”. In fact, I love the name [name]Elizabeth[/name]! And if you and your husband keep coming back to it, it seems like you do too! When I hear the name [name]Elizabeth[/name], I think of [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Bennet[/name], the heroine of Pride and Prejudice. Another good thing about [name]Elizabeth[/name] is that it has so much versatility! There are oodles of nicknames other than [name]Liz[/name], [name]Lizzie[/name], and [name]Beth[/name] that would be precious for a little girl, ([name]Libby[/name], for example) and tons more for a teenager, adult, etc. You can’t go wrong with a classic, elegant name like [name]Elizabeth[/name]! I also love the combination [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], which would keep the [name]Morgan[/name] you like and the [name]Elizabeth[/name] you and your husband agree on. She can always go by [name]Elizabeth[/name]!

Best of luck!

[name]Elizabeth[/name] is a bit boring/safe to me. I prefer [name]Elisabeth[/name] which gives off a different feel.
Are you sure you don’t like any [name]Elizabeth[/name] nicknames? No, [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ella[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Liza[/name], [name]Abby[/name], [name]Bettina[/name], etc? There’s a lot to choose from, I find it astonishing you don’t like any!

Perhaps you’d like [name]Elodie[/name]? [name]Claire[/name]? [name]Geneva[/name]?

Heck no! [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a classic and so regal. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Beth[/name] seems a bit dated but [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] sounds much more smooth and would do better nowadays. I agree with @east93, I find it astonishing that you don’t like a single nickname! [name]Libby[/name] sounds like it would suit your style.

I’m going to answer your question extremely honestly and I hope not to crush feelings! Yes, I find [name]Elizabeth[/name] incredibly boring and safe. [name]Even[/name] more boring than other “safe” traditional choices such as [name]Sarah[/name] or [name]Catherine[/name]. I have known too many [name]Elizabeth[/name]'s, [name]Beth[/name]'s, [name]Liz[/name]'s, etc to consider this name anything BUT safe and boring. I am one who is easily bored by hearing the same name over and over again, and for me, [name]Elizabeth[/name] is been there done that 100 times over. It is a name that seems to have remained popular throughout the generations, which probably adds to its over-done feel. There are [name]Elizabeth[/name]'s from age 0-80 out there. It doesn’t seem like a “fresh” traditional name like, say, [name]Amelia[/name] might be (even though it is gaining uber popularity right now.)

I personally think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a snooze fest in the fn or mn spot. HOWEVER, I am of the opinion that if you truly love this name, my comments shouldn’t stop you from using it! However, if you are on the fence and worried that some may perceive it as a boring choice… you would be right about that. I think [name]Eliza[/name] would be an infinitely more intriguing (and beautiful [name]IMO[/name]) choice. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Beth[/name] is a beautiful stand alone choice.

I personally find [name]Elizabeth[/name] boring, but there’s nothing wrong with the name itself. I like the variants [name]Elspeth[/name] and [name]Lisbeth[/name].

I’d hesitate to call it boring, but I think it’s definitely worn out. However, Pride and Prejudice always reminds me how sweet [name]Lizzie[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] are, and I also like the nicknames [name]Betsy[/name] and [name]Lise[/name] (a French nickname, pronounced Leeez).

I love it, maybe used a lot but for good reason compared to other popular names.

I really love the name [name]Elizabeth[/name] although I spell it [name]Elisabeth[/name]. It is our middle name choice combined with [name]Louisa[/name] for a girl to honor a [name]Betty[/name] [name]Lou[/name](my husbands late grandma) I’ve been tempted to use it as a first but I know two [name]Elizabeth[/name]'s and see them often so kept it in the middle. My sister is currently considering [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Kate[/name] if her baby is a girl. My favorite nickname for it is [name]Libby[/name]. (My name isn’t [name]Elizabeth[/name], just my username is [name]Libby[/name]) I think [name]Lizzie[/name] can be kind of cute, but I don’t care for [name]Liz[/name] or [name]Beth[/name] at all either. I think [name]Betsy[/name] is a super cute nickname too!

I like [name]Libby[/name], it would be adorable on a little girl and she could use [name]Elizabeth[/name] when she got older. My husband hates it.
He loves [name]Eliza[/name], but there’s something about this name that I don’t love. Maybe it’s the “lie” sound.
We don’t like any of the other nicknames, we’ve researched them all.

This is just the most frustrating feeling. We’re in baby name hell. I would love a name that’s fresh, a little spunky, not too frilly, but still beautiful. Nothing really feels right…

[name]Elizabeth[/name] is beautiful and classic, not boring at all. If you love it, I don’t think you really need to agree on a nn yet. It may be that when she’s a little girl, one of them just feels right and you end up using [name]Betsy[/name] or [name]Libby[/name] or whatever, but there is no need to commit to one now.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] is a beautiful and classic name, a little black dress of a name, if you will.
I would go with [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Morgan[/name], or perhaps [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Blythe[/name].
