Is Ella still super popular?

I am wondering if [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is still hugely popular? It seems everyone is still using a lot of [name_f]El[/name_f] names on here but I haven’t met more than 1 little [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and that was 6 years ago before she moved. I have loved the name [name_f]Ella[/name_f] since childhood Yet, I still don’t see any around here. I don’t think I even care so much that [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is common. Its the only girls name that I really love, (besides maybe [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] or [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] and my husband hates that name, I’ve also heard it described as trendy and I am anything but trendy. I always thought of it as a classic. Am I wrong about that? Would you mind sharing how you view [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and what you think when you meet one? To me [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is ethereal and elegant at the same time but maybe Im in the minority. Any other [name_f]Ella[/name_f] supporters out there?

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] has been in the Top 50 in the US for 10 years, and for the past two years has been #12. Not to mention names with the nickname [name_f]Ella[/name_f], like [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], which has also been in the Top 50 for close to 10 years. To me, that definitely makes [name_f]Ella[/name_f] hugely popular.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few beautiful, classic names that because of their current popularity can be described as trendy ([name_f]Sophia[/name_f] being a prime example). When I meet Ellas, I usually just think, “Oh, another [name_f]Ella[/name_f].” I see [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as more “princessy” than elegant, but then again I’m not usually a fan of super feminine, flowery names (the types of names for which [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is so often the nickname).

I think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is beautiful, but personally I much prefer [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] to [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a nickname, so I guess I can’t really be a big help with your real question.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is popular but cute especially if it is paired with a more out there/word/nature mn. It is also cool as a full name and not just a nn for [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]/[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]/[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] etc.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is a pretty name, and yes, it’s extremely popular.

I have only ever met two little [name_f]Ella[/name_f]'s. I know some elderly [name_f]Ella[/name_f]'s. I never hear it compared to the oodles of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]'s. I think it is beautiful!

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is still common but no where near [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. There are a lot of similar names out there like [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and tons of Ellies! If you name your daughter [name_f]Ella[/name_f] she will probably know a couple other Ellas and a lot of people with similar names but I don’t think her name would be super common.

I know 3 baby [name_f]Ella[/name_f]'s myself but I hear [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] a lot more when I am out and about.

In my area, the only baby name I hear alllllll of the time is [name_f]Ella[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. It’s SO popular here! (Southern US).

I don’t know any Ellas (or Ellies!) personally, although I do know of one [name_f]Ella[/name_f], who is probably around 5 now. She was very adorable when I met her, about a year or two ago, and her twin sister was named [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Honestly, popular names aren’t as popular (imo) as people make them out to be–the average is that there will be only one [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] in each class (not even classroom, in each grade), so no super popular name seems that super popular to me. I don’t hear popular names a ton. I hear those around the 20-50 range much more–names like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] and [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] and such.

[name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of the most popular names still have a classic style, though I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is more classic than [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is very popular, but if you love it you should use it. If a distinctive name is important to you maybe a longer full name like [name_f]Mariella[/name_f] would suit you? Or a unique middle?

It is popular, has been for about the last 10 years. [name_f]Essie[/name_f] is really popular too. And [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] may follow that same pattern, another lovely name that tops the charts unfortunately. On the other hand [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] (pronounced ahr - ee - EHL) I have only met one of & I think it’s gorgeous!

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is super popular and I know two. I do like it as a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but I prefer the [name_f]Elea[/name_f] spelling.
Its number 7 in WA (number 1 in 2011)
13 in Australia
and 11 in NSW
We have [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] in the top 10 and [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] in our top 100 as well.

@blink [name_f]Essie[/name_f] hasn’t ranked since the 60’s so not super popular.

Yes, it’s very popular. I only know one [name_f]Ella[/name_f] but she will turn 12 next [name_u]June[/name_u].

I meet a mother with a baby [name_f]Ella[/name_f] the other day. The first thing she said was she had no idea how popular the name was before she named the baby that, so I am guessing she has meet other Ellas. But I agree with ashthedreamer, there are so many baby name variants nowadays, it’s not going to be like [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] was back in the day. Stick to your [name_f]Ella[/name_f] if that’s your baby’s name!
