Is Ellanie/Ellany a real name?

I love the sound of it, specifically prn like Melanie without the m. Somehow the m makes it feel dated to me. Also, the middle name will be Michelle after a family member so there would be too many M sounds. I can’t find much evidence that it’s a real name and not made up. Elodie is beautiful and more common but I just love the -ny ending better. Which sounds nicer with my first daughters name, Jocelyn?

Its very pretty! I would probably spell it [name_f]Elenie[/name_f] for the pronunciation you like :)) it goes nicely with jocelyn :relaxed:

It reminds me a bit of [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]

Ellanie is gorgeous though- I’ve never come across it before

¸I think it may be [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] you think of, not Ellanie, which might explain why you didn’t find it anywhere.

Yes, although I normally see it spelled Eleni. Super sweet! I like both [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and Ellanie (or however you want to spell it) with Jocelyn, although I probably do prefer [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] with it just because they seem the closest in style to me personally.

I saw that spelling but it seemed most people thought it should be pronounced eh-LANE-ee? [name_u]Or[/name_u] eh-LAH-nee. I didn’t want to pick a name that I was mispronouncing!

It definitely has a very pretty sound! I think I’d go with [name_f]Elenie[/name_f] or Ellenie/Ellanie, which would probably get you to the pronunciation you want. I personally pronounce [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] differently, and have only ever heard it pronounced differently, so that one might have some issues (but is easily correctable, if you like it!!).

Also, searching the nb database I found Eleny, which you might like!!
other similar-ish sounding names: Bellamy, Connelly, Delaney, Ellery, Emery, Janelly, Melody, and Noely.

Good luck!

Eleni was what I thought of first, though technically I think the correct pronunciation is eh-LEH-nee with the stress on the 2nd syllable.

As someone else mentioned there’s also Eleny, which is a French variation of Eleanor, so I would imagine the pronunciation should be very similar to what your looking for.

Correction ENGLISH variation of French so I would say most likely the pronunciation you’re looking for.

[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] is pronounced eh-LEN-ee, with the emphasis on the second syllable, but I could see how someone would mispronounce it like [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] without the M at first (I know I did). I think [name_f]Eleny[/name_f] or maybe Ellenie would be best for what you want. I’d stress the A sound in these spellings so it would be more like eh-LAH-nee.
