We are seriously considering like 7 different names right now. Recently I keep thinking about the name [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I’ve always liked [name_f]Emma[/name_f], but I never considered it because [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is SO popular. I think I’ve known like 200 Emmas in my life, and three people I know have named their baby [name_f]Emma[/name_f] in the last two months. But I don’t want to overlook a name just because it is popular. Somebody suggested [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] instead, but I like just [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. What do think? It is to popular?
I adore [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I have only known a couple of Emmas. In reality there was only 20,000 some babies named [name_f]Emma[/name_f] in 2014 and almost 4 million babies born. That is a drop in the bucket.
I like the name a lot but it is pretty common. I know several little [name_f]Emma[/name_f]'s. I adore emmaline but if you plan on calling her [name_f]Emma[/name_f] then it’s not a big difference really
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is such a pretty name. I don’t think it’s as popular right now. You could also go with [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is beautiful, timeless, and truly versatile. It is popular, but I don’t think that’s a reason to cross [name_f]Emma[/name_f] off your list. It’s popular for a reason.
I agree with ilovemysweeties - a drop in the bucket, even at #1. Around 20,000 babies named [name_f]Emma[/name_f] in 2014. In the 80’s [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] was over 63,000. There’s so much variety now that even the most popular names should be considered if you love them!

It is very popular, but so was [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] when I used it. I have an adoration for it that probably most people using it don’t have. I don’t regret it, no matter how many millions of Aidans there are, because I loved it ten years ago as much as I love it today. My advice? If you can’t let it go, don’t. You can always look your [name_f]Emma[/name_f] in the eyes and say I named you the name I loved more than any other!
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is pretty common. It’s not like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but it’s up there. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you really like the name? If you do than just use it!
Personally, I find it too popular. It’s a nice name, but I know SO many, especially children and babies. It has a white noise effect for me - it’s a name that’s “just there” because I’ve become numb to hearing it everywhere.
It is a beautiful name. That being said, I would not personally use it due to popularity. I had a super popular name, and never wanted that for my kids. I know several [name_f]Emma[/name_f]'s. I know more [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] though.
I’ve only known a few girls named [name_f]Emma[/name_f] in actuality. I think if you love a name you should use it, regardless of popularity. Worst case scenario would be that she’s not the only one in her class. I had a close friend with the same name in high school. It was a joke between us. It didn’t bother me enough to not use a popular name for my own child.
I grew up with a popular name and I hate it so, to me, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is way too popular. However, I’ve found that I’m often alone when complaining about the popularity of my name. If the popularity doesn’t bother you, then use what you love. I’ve grown a bit tired of [name_f]Emma[/name_f] but I’d rather meet an [name_f]Emma[/name_f] than a Makylie or something.
I think you sort of answered your own question, and I’d agree, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is too popular.
My name is [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and I have had other Emmas in my classes and such but it has never bothered me. I actually really like my name! It is easy to say and spell for people and I can always find knick knacks with my name on it! If you still think it is too popular you can always use it as a middle name.
