Is Emma too popular or boring?

I cant decide on a girl choice from my short list so thought maybe “the” name isn’t there yet and have always thought [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is really soft and pretty. But is it too popular or mainstream with my other kids ([name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f])? I don’t really know many [name_m]IRL[/name_m] but want my subset too somewhat go together.

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is very popular compared to the others. It’s been the #1 most popular name in the US three years in a row.

What about [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]? #247 and thus between [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] in current rankings.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Ella[/name_f] would be rarer and it’s #17

My favourite soft-pretty-popular name at the moment is [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. #210

I do wonder why [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is so popular and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] isn’t? [name_f]Amy[/name_f] has a nice meaning and a similar simple sound.

Emma is very popular and while the name itself isn’t exciting IMO it still has a nice sweet sound. You could always use a more outgoing/colourful middle name to add some flare to it

I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I like how soft and pretty it is. It’s not terribly exciting due to the popularity unfortunately, but it’s popular for a reason. You could definitely spice it up with a middle though.

I love the name [name_f]Emma[/name_f] - it’s so soft and pretty but the only thing that lets it down is it’s popularity. I think that [name_f]Emma[/name_f] may be too popular (is that a thing haha?) for your existing children’s names. Have you thought about names like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] or [name_f]Amalie[/name_f]? They all have the soft sounding ‘m’ sounds yet are lower in population. However, if you’re set on the name or absolutely adore it, go for it!

Only you can answer if it’s too popular - you have to way up popularity with how much you love the name above others, and whether popularity matters to you. Some people prefer to have a name that is popular.

A classic name like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] bears popularity much better than a trendy name that’s in and out in a decade.

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is popular because it’s a lovely name. It fits perfectly with [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f], and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].

[name_f]Jemma[/name_f]?

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

emma is a classic it will fit her her whole life!! it is pretty popular but if you like it thats what matters! beautiful name good luck with your baby

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is a pretty name, and whatever you do with it is your choice. My personal opinion, however, is that it’s better for a nickname than a full name. Growing up, I went to school with a girl named [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] who mainly used the nm [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and I really loved her full name. It has a nice ring, and I feel like it could go with your other kid’s names; [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f], and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (or maybe [name_f]Emersyn[/name_f]? It’s a bit more femme)

It is popular but with good reason. I love [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. It’s gentle yet sophisticated.

It is quite popular, but it’s so beautiful!
