is Etta boring or a fresher take on Ella/ Emma?

I have always loved the names [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Emma[/name], but they just seem so popular now and I was wondering what your thoughts are on the name [name]Etta[/name]?

[name]Ella[/name] I am sick of. [name]Emma[/name] I still like but it lost some of its appeal. [name]Etta[/name] I love, it sounds fresh, sweet and classic. But I don’t like very many, if any, of the full names for [name]Etta[/name] though :frowning:

I love [name]Etta[/name]. It feels very jazzy and old Hollywood. I feel its more sleek and sophisticated (and a lot less common) than [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Emma[/name]

I like it a lot! I also like it as a nickname for [name]Coretta[/name]. It’s nice as a stand alone as well. It is a nice change from [name]Emma[/name] or [name]Ella[/name]. Good luck!

I think [name]Etta[/name] is a fresher take on [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Emma[/name]. I like it!

I think it’s a logical next step in the [name]Ella[/name], [name]Emma[/name], but different trend.

[name]Etta[/name] does mean “that” in Russian so it feels like a strange choice as a full name.

[name]Edda[/name] is another option.

Thanks for the opinions everyone! [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Etta[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] would be a good sister/ brother combo?

I would prefer something along the lines of [name]Suzette[/name] & [name]Elijah[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name] & [name]Eli[/name] so it’s less matchy.

Very cute though!

[name]Don[/name]'t get me wrong: I love the sound of [name]Etta[/name]- my fave of the E- names ending in -a. [name]Etta[/name] is fresher and has always been prettier [name]IMO[/name]. However, [name]Etta[/name] is only fresh when considered alone. In a classroom or on a playground FULL of [name]Emma[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Ella[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Ava[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]Emmy[/name], etc. it gets lost. I also find it too matchy with [name]Eli[/name]. Each name will be more distinctive if they aren’t so similar.

Try [name]Gemma[/name], [name]Thea[/name], or [name]Nina[/name] for a similar feel.

I agree, it is fresher but still blends in, if that makes sense. The name is also lacking for me, and I feel weird saying it out loud…it feels more like an abbreviated word (like “atta boy”) than an actual name. As popular as [name]Emma[/name] is, I still love the name. [name]Ella[/name] is getting to be overused in my opinion, especially in my area.
I love the suggestions of [name]Gemma[/name], [name]Thea[/name], [name]Nina[/name]. I also would suggest [name]Lena[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Mina[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Britta[/name].

I really love [name]Emma[/name]. I don’t like [name]Etta[/name] at all, it sounds very scratchy. Like nails on a chalkboard to me. [name]Even[/name] though the names are popular, they’re popular for a reason. If you love it go for it!!
