Is Evan and Owen too matchy or just right?

[name]Just[/name] wanting opinions on this sibset. Our [name]Evan[/name] is having a baby brother in late [name]March[/name] and we are thinking, of course, about names for him… someone suggested

[name]Evan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name]

wdyt? are they too much alike or just right?

thanks for any input…

I love both names, and having an [name]Evan[/name] and an [name]Owen[/name] wouldn’t be bad, but I do actually think they’re a little too matchey. [name]Both[/name] two syllables and 4 letters, both Welsh, both ending in very similar sounds.

Maybe instead of [name]Owen[/name], you might like:
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]

If you are really set on [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name] though, go for it. It’s not like they actually rhyme!

It’s funny… Everyone I know who likes the name [name]Evan[/name], also likes the name [name]Owen[/name] (and vice versa). I do think they sound similar, so you know… When you’re calling them it might be confusing. However, they do seem to go together. So, it’s not TOO similar that people will think you are crazy or anything. Other siblings that I know with [name]Evan[/name] are: [name]Shane[/name], [name]Dean[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Jack[/name], and [name]Miles[/name].

They sound nice together! They are probably the edge of my comfort level for similarity, but the initials and consonants are different enough for me. My only other reservation was that I thought they both point back to [name]John[/name], but after the briefest searching it looks like I was wrong.

That is alovely duo! Its the same style and they will be very cute together!

I like both names but I do think they are way too similar. If it were me, I’d go to call [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name] and end up calling them both Oven.

I actually know a real sibset of [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name]! They are a little older, probably around 12 or so. I think they are fairly matchy but if you love them you should use them!

It’s not the worst sibset I’ve ever heard, but it does sound very matchy and like you didn’t think to far to get the second name. I wouldn’t do it, but you could do a lot worse.

There are certain names that I always confuse, because in my mind, I think they are basically the same name (for some reason I can never tell a [name]Rick[/name] and a [name]Steve[/name] apart). [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name] are like that for me. If I was a teacher at their school or their friends’ mother or something, I might have a hard time remembering which was which.
