Is Evanora too out there?

Is Evanora too odd to use [name_m]IRL[/name_m]? It is (unfortunately) the name of the Wicked Witch of the [name_f]East[/name_f] in “[name_m]Oz[/name_m] the Great and Powerful” but I don’t think it’s too strong of an association to make me not use it, but is it too weird?

It’s pronounced eh-VAH-nore-uh, though I suppose you could also go with EE-van-ore-uh. I’d use [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as nicknames.

Middle name suggestions? Would it work with [name_m]Booker[/name_m] & [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_m]Booker[/name_m] & [name_f]Isla[/name_f] as siblings?

I don’t mind the witch association as much as I do the fact that it sounds like a smoosh of [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f], which are both names I really like. I love the nickname ‘[name_f]Evie[/name_f]’, though.

I personally think it’s too “out there.” I like both [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but not together. I also think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] both work well together with your other sibling names-mostly [name_m]Booker[/name_m] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I watched [name_m]Oz[/name_m]: The Great and Powerful I’ve been crushing on Evanora. It’s so ravishing and [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] Weisz really saved that mess of a film. I don’t necessarily think it’s too out there, but I believe they made it up for the film and I generally only think that a very few made up names are alright to use in real life. But that’s just me. And there’s the association. I don’t know if the Wicked Witch of the [name_f]East[/name_f] is the best association however wonderfully badass [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] was in the film. I definitely prefer the “original” pronunciation. Pronouncing it EE-van… takes away its glory to me.

Evanora (I emphasize the second syllable like I would in the word ever) is a gorgeous name and definitely not too out there. To me it doesn’t sound made-up but more like a long-lost beauty that was popular 150 years ago.
It actually reminds me very much of [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], which I love, so I can picture it on a little girl / women.
I don’t really love it with [name_m]Booker[/name_m] or [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Evanora has a regal, aristcratic sound to me while the other two are very modern and trendy (to me [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are brother to Evanora).
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and Evanora are gorgeous though.

I like smoosh names like [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] and Evanora, [name_f]Rosabelle[/name_f]… But really prefer [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], or other variant.

No - I profiled this name on my blog last year and someone wrote in to say that their aunt and their cousin are both named Evanora, so I see no reason why it can’t work.

I love it - it’s so pretty

I love Evanora! I think it’s beautiful. It has so many nn options too. [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_u]Nori[/name_u], [name_f]Vanna[/name_f], etc.

I honestly think Evanora is so beautiful. However, I don’t think I would be brave enough to use it. I think [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] is a lot more useable and just as pretty.

usable. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is OK and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is lovely.

It does seem that the current generation of girls will have many names like this: [name_f]Elizabella[/name_f], etc.

I prefer the more old-fahioned separate name way of doing it: [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Norah[/name_f], etc.

I actually really like it for a first name.
I would never use it myself, but it is quite a lovely name.

I love Evanora nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f]

[name_f]Love[/name_f] it! I agree with the E-VAH-nora pronunciation

I personally wouldn’t use it because of the movie, not loving the whole evil witch association, but I don’t think it is too out there. I prefer other -nora names like Elinora/[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], but Evanora isn’t too out there; I think you could use it.
