is Evelyn too close in sound?

Is the name [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] too close to the name [name_u]Avery[/name_u]?

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is one of our top names, but is it too close to [name_u]Avery[/name_u]?
We do want the names of our kids to go together (style wise) but we don’t want them to be too similar.

Thanks for the input

Anyone else?

It depends on whether or not [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is a girl or a boy. If it’s a girl then no, if it’s a boy then yes.

We’d use [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] on a girl (that’s why this thread is in the girls forum)

I don’t think [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] are too close. Their beginning sounds are different, their end sounds are different. Their only similarities are that they have the same syllable count, and they both have “ve” in the middle.

I love the sound of [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] together. A lovely and stylistically complimentary set of sibling names indeed.

I think it will work

[name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] share a pronounced “v” sound and “ve” when written out. It’s not ideal but I don’t think that it’s too bad. However, if you plan on giving your daughter the nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] then I think [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be too much in one household.

[name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] sound super cute together! Not too close at all in my opinion.

Whoops my mistake! [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] still sound amazing together  I do agree that if you call her [name_f]Evie[/name_f] it’s too close but eve would work!

I think it is really close, but I actually wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out. So there’s that.

We aren’t really into nicknames, and I don’t really like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] to begin with, so I don’t think we’ll use it.
