I discovered this name days ago, and immediately fell in love. Upon reading the comments on Nameberry, I realized that a lot of people associate it with fedora (the hat) and it was troubling for Spanish speakers, who couldn’t get over the feo part (which in Spanish means “ugly”). This name has gathered a lot of negative comments, and what I wanted to know is: do you find this name usable? I am in a Slavic country, and the name is Slavic, but extremely rare where I live. I like its simplicity and think it’s prettier than [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], but what do you think? Based on my signature, what would you pair it with?
Spelling it Fiadora or Fiodora prevents both of those associations!
Spelling it Fiadora or Fiodora would also change the pronunciation somewhat, so that might not really work.
OP: I like [name_f]Feodora[/name_f]. I think it’s an interesting twist on a classic, and given where you live, it makes complete sense to use it. For what it’s worth, I believe the name was given to one of [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]'s daughters and one of her granddaughters, as well, so it has a pedigree beyond the Slavic countries, too. Of the names in your signature, I think [name_f]Feodora[/name_f] [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] sounds rather nice.
I love [name_f]Feodora[/name_f]! Such a rich and velvety name. I like it better than [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], and as @whiteteaandginger mentioned, changing the spelling would remove the negative associations.
Your signature names are lovely, by the way- I love [name_m]Eugen[/name_m] [name_m]Cecil[/name_m] Sunflower, and the beautiful [name_f]Beata[/name_f] needs more love. [name_m]Just[/name_m] using the names in your signature, I’d pair [name_f]Feodora[/name_f] with something more lighthearted (such as [name_f]Feodora[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]).
