Fiana… prn [name]Fee[/name]-ah-nuh… is that a real or made up name? I see it from time to time but never know… it might be a pretty alternative to my fav [name]Fiona[/name].
Also… any other advice/opinions/good or bad on my final list? We like/love them all but none are jumping out at us. Honestly though, its one of these. I’ve looked at every name imaginable!
[name]Fiona[/name]- my “true love name” but shrek comments irk me. not sure if it’d keep me from using.
Fiana?- is it even a real name?
[name]Phoebe[/name]-has been on my list the longest… was going to use it for my DS1…
[name]Stella[/name]- love but don’t have that amazing connection to… but it is nice, and DH really likes it.
[name]Eliza[/name]- maybe a bit to harsh sounding?
[name]Olive[/name]- Not pretty enough? [name]Olive[/name] Oyl comments might REALLY get irritating. She will be tall, too.
[name]Maeve[/name]- love the Irish appeal. DH loves it. But i feel it might be to short/abrupt? Not pretty enough?
[name]Just[/name] for your consideration, my kids names are [name]Owen[/name]/[name]Sullivan[/name]/[name]Annabel[/name]

I like the nn [name]Fia[/name] for this.
I wouldn’t let Shrek stop me from using [name]Fiona[/name]. Besides, she was a princess in that movie.
I like [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] next.
Fiana is a name, just not as common.
I think [name]Fiona[/name] is safe to use, Shrek wasn’t “that” popular and the name is actually getting popular.
I don’t like [name]Olive[/name], olive is such an ugly color and it just reminds me of the veggie
I do like [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name]. I prefer [name]Elizabeth[/name] over [name]Eliza[/name].
Fiana is very pretty, but [name]Fiona[/name] is prettier. I like [name]Olive[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] are also very sweet. And by the time she is grown up, I hate to say it, but Popeye will be forever forgotten. I also don’t think [name]Maeve[/name] is too abrupt or short, I know a little girl who sometimes goes by Maevie as a nickname. I think it’s awfully cute!
Fiana is real, its the name of an ancient tribe of Irish warriors. Here’s a link to more information about them.
Its also the name of the Political Party currently in power in [name]Ireland[/name], who are single handedly responsible for the downfall of the economy in the country. They are called the “Fiana Fáil” party, I believe.
From the rest of your list, I love [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name].
I still vote for [name]Fiona[/name]! [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] are great too. I think [name]Maeve[/name] is a bit short when compared to [name]Annabel[/name]… Fiana is nice, but I much prefer [name]Fiona[/name]. [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Maeve[/name], perhaps?
Nameberry is the only reputable name site I’ve ever seen [name]Fianna[/name]/Fiana listed on (Babynames.com and Babycenter are really inaccurate.) When I googled the name, I found that Wikipedia has an article about [name]Fianna[/name] as Scottish and Irish mythology, and it appears that [name]Fianna[/name] is a very political word in [name]Ireland[/name], the name of a political party and used in the Irish language national anthem. I found no information about consistent or historical use as a name, but it could just be that the name is just very rare. So I guess what I’m saying is that [name]Fianna[/name] is definitely an Irish word, but may or may not be an actual name. I think you’ve got to do a lot of your own research if you’re seriously considering the name.
Thoughts on your list:
[name]Fiona[/name]- I don’t think the shrek comments will last forever; [name]Fiona[/name]'s a relatively popular name and I expect it’ll seem more common as today’s Fionas age.
[name]Phoebe[/name]-It’s alright. I think the internal rhyme of this name makes it sound a bit odd, but it’s not a terrible name. I do think you have better names on the list, though.
[name]Stella[/name]- I love [name]Stella[/name]! Very pretty, and a good meaning.
[name]Eliza[/name]- I don’t think it’s harsh, I think it’s very nice.
[name]Olive[/name]- [name]Don[/name]‘t be so sure she’ll be tall! my mom and all of her siblings are 5’9 and above (her brothers are all 6 ft or more) except her oldest sister, who’s 5’. But anyway, I don’t care for [name]Olive[/name]. It’s the food- it’s such a common thing to eat that using it as a name just seems completely bizarre to me. Regardless of its history of use as a name, [name]Olive[/name] is 100% salad topping to me.
[name]Maeve[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this! [name]One[/name] of my favorites here.
