Is Genevieve destined to be a top ten name?

I have a baby girl named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] who is just under a year old. I made peace with the popularity of her name because we live in a very diverse area and i know she won’t be in class with lots of girls with her name. However I don’t want all of my children to have “of the moment” names. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is my front runner for the next girl. I can’t help but notice how many spots she has jumped over the last few years. [name_m]How[/name_m] high on the list do you think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] will get? Thanks, [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]

I’ve never heard the name [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] outside of nameberry so I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] will always be more popular because its more of a classic than [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Also, I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] would make beautiful sisters.

I think u are safe with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name by the way.
I stay away from common names.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is number 1 or 2 top girls name here in Australia at the moment…
[name_f]My[/name_f] girls are astrid, skyla ”

I think you’ll be just fine. In 2012 only 1379 girls were named [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] sources are the SS list.

I don’t think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] will be that popular of a name. It may get close to the bottom 100, but I don’t feel that it would go any higher. REALLY popular names usually get popular because they appeal to a wide variety of people (Like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]), or because of a pop-culture reference (a popular fictional character, or a famous person picked it as a name)… So as long as [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_f]Cruise[/name_f] doesn’t name a girl [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]… you should be safe.

I’ve only ever known one [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Gen[/name_f]) - my grandmother! I think it’ll continue to rise along with all the other 3 and 4 syllable names that are trending, but I don’t think it’ll get so far that you need to worry. You could always go with the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and zhan-vee-EV sound nice together!

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is fairly popular on Nameberry, but outside of this site I don’t think it’ll pass the top 100. It’s pretty and generally unheard of, but I can’t see it appealing to the masses like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f].
