Is naming a child [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name] cruel? I’m not thinking of naming my daughter that as a take on the song, but since that song IS out there, should I cross this wonderful name off my list? I don’t want a bunch of middle aged men coming up to her–each thinking he’s the first clever person to think of it–telling her her name is a song.
I had to Google [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name] to see what you are talking about. I think it would be fine. There are so many names in songs I wouldn’t let that stop me.
[name]Molly[/name], [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Coraline[/name] are favorites of mine and they all have songs about them or appear in songs. Those are just the ones that are off the top of my head.
I think it’s fine. Honestly, a year ago I googled my name to see if there were any songs that used it just because. When I found [name]Emily[/name] by Lady Antebellum I was thrilled that it fit me and the situation me and my boyfriend were going through. It’s kinda neat
I think you’re going to get the same response if you name her [name]Georgia[/name] anything, so if you love it, go for it. My name is [name]Maggie[/name] and do you know how many people in my life have sang [name]Maggie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] to me? It was annoying for a while, but it’s actually kind of cute. The old men always get a kick out of it and it’s nice to brighten someone’s day once in a while.
I think if you love it then its fine. [name]One[/name] thing you might also keep in mind is that [name]Zac[/name] [name]Brown[/name] (from the [name]Zac[/name] [name]Brown[/name] Band) named his daughter [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name], so in addition to the song its also a “star baby”. I’m not sure if that is a positive or negative for you, but its something to think about.
It’s also a quite nice restaurant in [name]Washington[/name] DC
No, I don’t think naming a girl [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name] is cruel. Yes, she may get serenaded every so often, but my thinking is as long as the song’s lyrics are generally positive…no big deal. Yeah I heard “Sweet [name]Caroline[/name]” a lot growing up, but it never bothered me too much, there are only a few songs out there that really “ruin” the name for me.
I actually know a [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name]. She married into the name, and has had no problems with it. I say, if it’s your favorite, go for it.
If there is a problem with people calling her “Sweet” [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name] - then don’t do it. But I have managed to live for almost 58 years with people singing “My [name]Bonnie[/name] Lies Over the [name]Ocean[/name]” with very little trauma. Though now that I think of it, I would have preferred “Sweet [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Brown[/name].”
