We are expecting our first (and most likely our only) baby in 7 weeks. We haven’t settled on a girls name yet, but have chosen [name_m]Hazen[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] if it’s a boy. We want to use [name_f]Ann[/name_f] as a girl’s middle name and we’re considering [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] as the first name. We are not of [name_m]German[/name_m] decent. Is [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] too [name_m]German[/name_m] if we’re not? Please help. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]?
Not at all! I live in Australia and I know two people who are named [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], and they aren’t [name_m]German[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is gorgeous 
I’m not sure where you’re located, but [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is currently #353 on the U.S. SSA name chart. I don’t think it could have made it that high in the charts only taking into account areas with heavy [name_m]German[/name_m] populations. I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] has lost a lot of its foreign image.

I know [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is certainly used by people who are not of [name_m]German[/name_m] descent. [name_f]My[/name_f] question is more do you expect the person to be [name_m]German[/name_m] when you hear the name [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]?
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is adorable! And there is nothing wrong with using that name if your not from that heritage. People use Biblical names all the time, and many of us aren’t Hebrew!
I think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is fine for someone who’s not [name_m]German[/name_m], unless it’s [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] nn [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] (which is sweet, but quite ethnic). The only [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] I’ve ever known was [name_f]Asian[/name_f], and it suited her fine.
I don’t think it’s too [name_m]German[/name_m] at all. I think it’s a very mainstream name. I love [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]!
No, I don’t expect a person named [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] to be straight off the boat [name_m]German[/name_m]. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some [name_m]German[/name_m] heritage but it’s not a name that would surprise me to see used on someone without [name_m]German[/name_m] heritage.
I knew one [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]. She’s a year younger than me and we’re [name_f]Asian[/name_f]. The name suits her, imo. I love [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f].

I know two [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]’s. One is a stately blond-blue eyed [name_u]California[/name_u] women and one Egyptian women. Honestly I initially thought it was weird on the later but I’ve gotten used to it and it suits her really well. I really see no reason one couldn’t use it if one wasn’t of [name_m]German[/name_m] decent - that would be like saying all Greek names are off the table for people who aren’t of Greek decent or names with Latin-roots names are only cool if you are from a latin-language based culture. MADNESS I say… absolute MADNESS and totally name-nerd disaster. lol.

[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is so sweet and adorable. While [name_m]German[/name_m], it can also be considered a literature name. I love it.
