Is Henry James too boring, plain, or common?

Is [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] too boring, plain, or common?
What do you think about the name?

Never! It’s perfect!

I think it is classic. I like it a lot!

I dont think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is used that often anymore, but even of it is, its a classic. The combonation of [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is handsome, strong, and timeless.

For me I’d find it a bit traditional… my DH on the other hand would think it’s perfect.
So, I think it’s up to you. Though I expect you asked because you might think it is.

Have you considered something like [name_m]Hendrik[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] nn [name_m]Henry[/name_m] to spice it up a bit.

“Longer” versions of [name_m]Henry[/name_m] could be:
[name_m]Henderson[/name_m]
[name_m]Hendrix[/name_m]
[name_m]Hendrik[/name_m]

I do think it’s pretty plain vanilla. I like both names on their own, but if I was going to use [name_m]Henry[/name_m] I’d probably use a middle that had more oomph and interest. [name_u]James[/name_u] is a nice name, but is super popular as a middle name. I actually think [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is more exciting than [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].

I think it’s a great name. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a wonderful author (think Turn of the Screw and Portrait of a Lady). Also, most people won’t know his middle name so I wouldn’t be too worried. For most he will simply be [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. You could always call him [name_m]Harry[/name_m] or [name_m]Hank[/name_m] (pretty cute) to spice it up.

I like both names a lot but I admittedly find it a bit bland as a combination.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a fine name. It’s timeless, versatile, and will age far better than [name_u]Mason[/name_u] or [name_u]Jayden[/name_u].

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] was a wonderful author. I would ordinarily find it a bit plain, but unless your surname is also very common, I think the literary connection makes it special and you should go for it.

I love both [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u] but I do find the combo to be a bit bland. Personally I’d thrown in something spunky as a second middle, but there’s nothing wrong with the name as it is.

I love the name [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and I’ve always thought [name_u]James[/name_u] is a good strong name. I think that while it’s not “out there” as most berries like, it is a beautiful name that all your family and friends will like. I really like it!

I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. I don’t think that it is boring, but since I don’t live in the US I don’t know if the names or the combination are popular there. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a classic and sophisticated name. I think it is perfect

I guess that depends on what you consider boring. It’s a handsome classic name and I find it quite lovely. I’m sure there are plenty of people who will disagree as there are most likely a few boys with that exact name already, but the only thing that matters is if you love it. In my opinion, I think it’s a great name! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

I’m with southern_maple - it’s a fine combination and will age better than the trendy names. I know one little [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and he’s a great kid.

I personally think it’s an awesome name. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] isn’t used that often anymore, but it’s such a classic name that it sounds fresh. [name_u]James[/name_u] is another timeless choice, and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] flows very nicely together.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps! Good luck!

I agree that [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] was a great author and the literary link makes it more special.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] is very handsome and a common middle name isn’t a bad thing.

I don’t think it’s too boring, plain or common – a great classic name. BUT you need to be prepared for people to ask or assume that he’s named for the author. If you really love the author, I think it would be a good move, if you’re lukewarm, I’d say maybe give it some extra consideration about whether or not you want that association. But it’s a great name with wonderful flow.

To be honest, if I heard someone named their son [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], it wouldn’t really grab me. I absolutely love the name [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but it is more traditional that I like it paired with a more surprising middle! Perhaps [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]?
