Is Holliday destined to be nicknamed Holly?

I love [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] a lot but the only reason I dont have it on my list is that I dont like the nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f] at all. Can you think of other nicknames for [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] besides [name_f]Holly[/name_f]?

That’s a difficult one. I think [name_u]Day[/name_u] could be a nickname, or maybe [name_f]Liddie[/name_f], [name_f]Lolly[/name_f], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] or [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]?

Some alternatives could be:

[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_m]Hays[/name_m]
[name_u]Day[/name_u]
Liddy
[name_u]Haley[/name_u]
[name_f]Hilda[/name_f]
H

But I do think a [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] might well get called [name_f]Holly[/name_f] as it does feel quite intuitive

I think spelling the name “[name_f]Holiday[/name_f]” would make it less likely for the nickname [name_f]Holly[/name_f] to be used, but I think it is somewhat inevitable. Maybe [name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_f]Lida[/name_f], or [name_u]Day[/name_u] instead? I also like the suggestion of [name_u]Hollis[/name_u].

I would spell it [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] as it may help a bit, and it’s the spelling most people would automatically use. I guess it’s inevitable that some people may shorten it to [name_f]Holly[/name_f], but you just correct them and say, ‘No, it’s [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] or Liddy/[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]/[name_f]Hally[/name_f]’, etc. People who know her and you will get the message.

I like [name_u]Day[/name_u] as a nn, also what about [name_f]Dayo[/name_f], which is appealing, and means ‘brings joy’.

I agree with using the word [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]. To me, it’s either [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] or Halliday - the second of which is another way of avoiding [name_f]Holly[/name_f].

I like [name_u]Day[/name_u], [name_f]Dayo[/name_f] (as pp said) or even [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]/[name_f]Daysie[/name_f]. Otherwise Liddy or [name_u]Hollis[/name_u].

Thank you all for your replies!
Funny how a L change things cause I dont really like [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] as much as [name_f]Holliday[/name_f]. I think I will put it off my list cause I think [name_f]Holly[/name_f] will be inevitable.

[name_f]Holliday[/name_f] is a huge GP of mine (thanks to [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] [name_m]Grainger[/name_m]!), I think it’s absolutely lovely, and it makes me so happy to see someone else adding it to their list!

I feel like [name_f]Holly[/name_f] may be the intuitive nickname, but it can also be easily corrected.

Hayls is practically the only nickname for my name, and whenever someone began calling me that as a kid, my mom would correct them with a “no, she’s [name_u]Haley[/name_u]”. It’s a simple fix if anyone does call her by the wrong nickname!

I also second [name_f]Lolly[/name_f], but think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] could work too?
