Is Iona too much like Fiona?

Hello all,
[name_f]Iona[/name_f] is a top pick for me in my name change journey…
but I am afraid of the correlation it has with [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], and therefore the dreaded Shrek correlation.
I think it is a lovely name that can be both soft and hard sounding, which is very fitting for me.
Is it too much like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]? What do you think?

I don’t think so. The sound and feel is quite different

Personally I don’t associate [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] with Shrek immediately, and I definitely wouldn’t make that connection with [name_f]Iona[/name_f].

I have literally never made the connection that [name_f]Iona[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] are all that similar, as they sound pretty different despite being one letter apart in spelling, and definitely hadn’t made the leap from [name_f]Iona[/name_f] to Shrek’s [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]! I think you’re good

I think [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is lovely and I don’t see any connection to [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. For the record, I also like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

I would not make the connection. [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is more unusual and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is more common (to me).

I mean the names rhyme, but who cares they’re both pretty and Shrek 1 and 2 are good movies.

I just always hear “I own a…” fill in the blank. If you were to change your last name if you got married, imagine a name such as [name_f]Iona[/name_f] Carr, [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_u]Walker[/name_u], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_m]Bush[/name_m], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] Cox, [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m]/[name_m]Brown[/name_m]/White, [name_f]Iona[/name_f] Cook, [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_m]Baker[/name_m], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_u]Byrd[/name_u], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] Ball…these are all common English surnames. Tread with caution.
