Is it a modern twist on a classic name or just to made up sounding?

I love the name [name_m]David[/name_m] but it’s everywhere - I’m leaning towards [name_m]Davian[/name_m] but have concerns that is sounds made up or or worse - cheap sounding. Thoughts?

Btw, [name_m]Davis[/name_m] doesn’t work with our last name.

Edit: so after seeing people’s responses I realized it’s not the made up part. For really what does that mean - all the names we have were made up at one point. My main concern is if sounds lower class.

Are you trying to honor a [name_m]David[/name_m]? Maybe Nadav would work? But if you just want the [name_m]Dave[/name_m] sound, [name_m]Davian[/name_m] or [name_u]Davin[/name_u] should work.

I do think that [name_m]Davian[/name_m] sounds slightly made up, but I knew a [name_m]Damian[/name_m] once who carried the name very well.

It definitely sounds made up! I haven’t met a little [name_m]David[/name_m] in ages.

I like [name_m]Davian[/name_m]. Who cares if it sounds made up or not, the important thing is whether you love it. [name_m]Davidson[/name_m] is also handsome if you like the surname-style firsts.

[name_m]Davian[/name_m] reminds me of the granddaughter’s name on The Notebook, which was Davanee. I agree that [name_m]David[/name_m] doesn’t seem to be too popular for little kids right now.

[name_m]Davian[/name_m] to me is a mashup name, but it’s a normal mashup name if that makes any sense. It was the name of a little local boy who died a few years ago, so I’ve definitely seen it before. It’s actually quite popular for something that you would think was made up. It was number 777 on the charts last year.

[name_m]Damian[/name_m] would be preferable to me at least - [name_m]Davian[/name_m], in my opinion, sounds very made up! Sorry.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] feels like a squash of [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_m]Damian[/name_m].

It’s not completely horrible, but it does feel made up.

It does sound a bit made up. What about [name_m]Davis[/name_m]?

I kind of like [name_f]Davina[/name_f] for a girl, but for some reason [name_m]Davian[/name_m] looks made-up and unappealing to me, unfortunately. What about [name_u]Devon[/name_u] or [name_u]Devin[/name_u]?

Sorry, but I don’t like it. Of seems both made up & unsophisticated to me.

It doesn’t look quite right to me. -ian is such a typical ending for names in fantasy-type novels, so it can make a name seem made up to me even when it’s not. I like [name_u]Davin[/name_u] or [name_m]Devlin[/name_m] though.
