[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I am a teenager who LOVES names! [name_m]Even[/name_m] tho I do not have any kids yet, I love to imagine what i will name my future children. I have a huge crush on the names [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] & [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], but is the names too old school? I also love the name [name_f]Violette[/name_f] ( pronounced Vee-oh-let) but I cant see it on a grown woman! What is your thoughts?
I mean, I literally have people in my class named [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] might end up being dropped out of popularity since I don’t see it all too often in my swim classes (I teach little kids) and since it was overly popular in the 90s and early 2000s, but I still see Madeleines on both young kids and older folks, so it works and sounds very lovely.
I’m not too partial to pronouncing [name_f]Violette[/name_f] that way, though. It might work in [name_f]France[/name_f] and some parts of [name_f]Canada[/name_f], but anywhere else it’ll end up sounding too forced or just being pronounced [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and as someone with a name who has to correct pronounciations on my name often, it’ll just end up being annoying and tiresome. I used to have a favorite name of [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f], though. Still has a similar flow, but can be fit into different dialects without sounding off.
I only like [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and it’s one of my favorite names.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is just a color and it sounds preppy and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is too girly.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is a trendy name right now. [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] has been falling out of favor since around 2000 or so, though it’s still plenty usable. I don’t like [name_f]Violette[/name_f] but it doesn’t strike me as particularly dated.
I like [name_f]Violette[/name_f], I can see it working on a grown woman easily. I would pronounce it more like [name_f]Viola[/name_f] than [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (vee-oh-LET).
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] doesn’t seem old school, but I wouldn’t recommend it given how popular it and all of its variations currently are.
[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] is pretty 90s. I still prefer it to [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
