Is it for the boys or has it gone to the girls?

I love the name [name]Arden[/name]. When you see it, do you think boy or girl? [name]Do[/name] you know any boys or girls named [name]Arden[/name]?

Thanks everyone!

I have never met/seen anyone with the name [name]Arden[/name]. I picture it on a girl, but when this name has been brought up before, I appear to be in the minority. People seem to think it sounds very masculine. And while I picture a girl, I can see a boy carrying it as well.

I only know one [name]Arden[/name] and she is a girl, but I don’t think that the name is well-known enough to have “gone to the girls.”

It seems more girly to me, but I definitely think it could be used for a boy. I know of a little boy named [name]Arden[/name] [name]Hale[/name] (FN/MN, not FN/LN), and I met a guy named [name]Ardan[/name] once (said ar [name]DAN[/name] not ar den)–which makes [name]Arden[/name] seem more masculine. I think it’s one of those names that’s obscure enough that it can easily be used for both.

I like it for both. It’s too uncommom to belong to any gender

It doesn’t sound at all feminine, it’s actually not a pretty sound but people probably associate it with [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Arden[/name] and consider it a girl name

The first time I heard it was on a girl, so it was a girls name to me since then, especially with the [name]Ari[/name] nickname.
However, I see it as unisex now. There’s a lot of male quality in it.

The only time I’ve come across this name was a character in a book – a female character. I’m not sure if it’s because of that, but it does sound very feminine to me. I agree that [name]Ardan[/name] sounds more masculine. If I saw the names [name]Ardan[/name] and [name]Arden[/name], I would assume they were a boy and girl, respectively. It actually really surprised me that you were asking if [name]Arden[/name] had gone to the girls because I never thought of it as a boy’s name.

Sounds like a boy name to me. I like it! I agree that it isn’t popular enough to be claimed by either gender.

Sounds all boy to me. I would think it would be quite masculine sounding on a little girl!

I know a girl [name]Arden[/name], so it seems feminine to me. But actually, when I first met [name]Arden[/name], I thought it sounded very boyish. HA! So I don’t know what to tell you!

I don’t know any Ardens but I can’t imagine it on a boy.
