[name_u]Or[/name_u] are there certain names so used on nameberry that now when I see them, I want to scream?
I love [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and like [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but oh goodness gracious, I am sick of seeing them.
Give me some [name_f]Trillian[/name_f] and [name_u]Cricket[/name_u], some [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] and [name_f]Earhart[/name_f], some [name_u]Fjord[/name_u] and [name_f]Thalassa[/name_f]!
Well, there are some names that seem to be in every other post. It doesnāt really bother me that much, but sometimes I find myself thinking ānot againā. I guess itās the same as in real life, just with different names
There seems to be a very consistent Nameberry style. It definitely doesnāt bother me, but sometimes I find myself desperate for some new finds, as beautiful as the Nameberry classics are.
Iām glad people are enthusiastic about the names they love! Iām definitely āguiltyā of bringing up certain names far too much myself.
But there are a small handful of Nameberry-adored names that I am, letās say, very much not a fan of, including one that has a horrible meaning in a language not uncommon where I live.
I quietly move on from posts about them without commentingā Iām all about letting people enjoy what they enjoy!ā but itās when encountering them that I most acutely feel what you mean.
Guilty. though, I am starting to get a little bored of those names I like ([name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]). Iād still be tickled pink if someone used [name_f]Lavender[/name_f].
I know I donāt have the stereotypical āberry styleā and thatās ok⦠but oh my goodness some of these names that everyone seems to love drive me crazy. (basically any [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- name, sorry 𤷠and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]⦠which is my middle name so I feel like I have a right to hate on it. There are more but I donāt want to be too negativeā¦)
I will say though there are some names that I used to not enjoy, but after seeing them over, and over, and over again now are on my list⦠(looking at you [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f])
I donāt usually give my negative opinions on names in forum posts. But if I see a poll between one of the overused berry favorites and something else I will 99% of the time vote for the other option as my little rebellion.
Good comments. I should have said I am talking mostly about [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Name Games such as [name_u]Love[/name_u], Like, Lose which is my reward when Iāve taught for a long time and need a break.
In the girl and boy forums I understand that people writing in are going to go with the names they love. And Iāve met so few Rosemarys and no Lavenders, and I would love to meet some.
In the [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Name Games forum though I keep hoping people will spice it up a little. I donāt view myself as naming actual babies in that section so much as diversifying the baby name pool.
Okay so Iām such a nameberry esque person I absolutely love the majority of stereotypical [name_u]Berry[/name_u] names Iāve just named my daughter [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] which I feel has a similar vibe to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] & [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] ([name_f]Lilia[/name_f] after all is from the same family) and I actually love all the names you mentioned.
BUT I have to say sometimes itās a bit like okay here we go again if that makes sense I think itās nice to see a little bit of variety. It would be cool to come across more [name_f]Fabienne[/name_f]ās and less [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]ās. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I am a [name_u]Berry[/name_u] esque girl and completely understand the popularity on nameberry. But in reality you donāt come across many [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]ās I would love to meet a baby [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]!
Iām definitely feeling burnt out on names lately I keep searching and searching for new inspirations, but everything I come across is just the same, all the time. Most of my go-to threads donāt seem to be as active lately either, which isnāt helping.
I will admit though, a large part of my name fatigue is due to having like 30-something animals to name (all but 2 of which are rats, who are all related and are hard to tell apart. The other two are a pair of guinea pigs that I have too many names for).
It doesnāt bother me too much, but when I do feel a bit tired of a name, itās for one of two reasons:
I donāt appreciate the name like everyone else does ([name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m])
Iāve been in love with a name, and now all of a sudden everyone else loves it and keeps talking about it ([name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_m]Todd[/name_m], [name_f]Anya[/name_f])
I think Iām guilty of having a very berry style list
Certain names just arenāt my style though which I see a lot ([name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], Atticus, River) so Iād just avoid commenting
I understand it from the name game perspective, but I really donāt feel this way on the other forums. Honestly, I just love names and talking about names, and I love when other people are excited about their favorite names, even if those names are board popular.
Im so tired of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_u]Snow[/name_u] for middle names. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] too . I actually think the forums might have made me sick of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] too haha
I have one name in particular that, if I see it in the thread title, I go straight in and mute it. Itās not a first name to me. Itās a surname that I cannot wait to be rid of due to the overwhelming negative associations. I wonāt say what it is on these forums, but I donāt understand it being a first name at all.
ETA: There are several surnames I canāt envision as first names which I am able to ignore. There is only one that is painful enough for me to mute due to the associations involved.
I wonāt apologise for loving [name_m]Todd[/name_m], but itās one thatās been on my list since before I hopped on NB. Iām surprised at the sudden interest in it as it was talked down about when I first started on here ā it was considered a dad name along with one of my other names, [name_m]Mark[/name_m].
