[name_m]Hi[/name_m] I have a daughter [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I adore her name. If we have another girl I’d love to call her [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]. I think it’s pretty and different and matches [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] perfectly. DH refuses because both are main characters on One Tree [name_m]Hill[/name_m]. He says we can’t do that. I’ve never even seen the show. Would you do it? Is it ok? [name_m]How[/name_m] can I convince him it’s fine?
Both names are popular and I’ve never even heard of that show so I don’t think it’s a problem.
I’d say it doesn’t matter since both of those names are fairly popular. I’m only vaguely familiar with the show. According to Google, the last episode aired in 2012. Most TV shows lose their influence after their last episode and are eventually forgotten about by the general public. I’d say that One Tree [name_m]Hill[/name_m] is probably one of those.
I’ve never seen the show but at the same time don’t discount his feelings. Maybe there’s something negative about the show he didn’t like and doesn’t want to be reminded of it whenever he talks about his kids. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if others don’t make the association it does matter if he’s always going to make the association. Talk to him more about it and see how he feels.
I’ve never seen the show, so I don’t see the connection, but I would say if it bugs your husband then it might not be the best idea. I personally try to avoid using two names from the same show, even if not many people would get the association. At the end of the day you and your husband have to feel okay with it, regardless of everyone else. That being said, from an outsiders point of view, it’s not an issue, and as pps have said, they’re both somewhat regularly used names.
I agree with the others, I’ve never heard of the show AND both names are popular right now so I think it’s totally fine to use them together. It would be a different situation with unusual or specially-for-the-show created names like (I assume) [name_f]Khaleesi[/name_f], that’s an obvious show reference to me.
I’ve heard of the show, but I’ve never seen it. Both of the names are common enough that it is not a big deal.
I don’t think it’s a huge deal, but if it really bothers him then you do have to consider that. I gave up a couple of my favorites because my husband just couldn’t stand the associations.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], or [name_u]Halle[/name_u] would all make good alternatives.
I agree with other posters, both names have been used so often, I doubt many people would think of the show (I’ve seen the show, and I wouldn’t even have thought of it just by seeing the two names together!)
Like another pp has said, it’s not like you’re using [name_u]Arya[/name_u] & [name_f]Sansa[/name_f], which would probably be too much and too tied to one tv show.
that being said, you should definitely talk to your husband about it! maybe see if hed be more willing to use them if he knows most people wouldnt think of that association.
(also, I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] & [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] are adorable together and make such a sweet set of sisters!!)
I adore the show, still binge it now and have the boxset, so I knew what show you were on about when you said [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]. However, I don’t see an issue. If they were [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Haley[/name_u] (sisters on OTH) or [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] (BFFs) then maybe I’d be hesitant as I am a huge fan and see the connection.
Thank you everyone
I’ve never heard of the show, and both names are popular, so it doesn’t bother me. Is it a show your husband watches? Because if he doesn’t even watch it then it shouldn’t be a problem
I know the show but it was what, 20 years ago? I didn’t make the connection and agree with the other posters that they’re both common that I think it’d be fine to use together
