Or is it just a rule of the universe that people need to ruin the name with these gross nicknames?
It is possible! I know a [name]James[/name] that has only ever been called [name]James[/name] and heās a teenager.
I really dont understand how people get those NNs from [name]James[/name] anyways. It doesnt even have an I in it.
Same with [name]William[/name]'s being called [name]Bill[/name] or [name]Billy[/name]. [name]DO[/name] NOT GET. XD
Itās very possible. I have three friends named [name]James[/name], at least two of whom were never called by a nickname (Iām not sure about the third).
I know a [name]James[/name] whoās a teenager and is called exclusively [name]James[/name] Alternate nns are [name]Jem[/name] & [name]Jam[/name]
I know several men named [name]James[/name] who go by [name]James[/name]! I actually only know one [name]James[/name] that goes by a nn and that is only because he is a III The grandfather is [name]James[/name], the son [name]Jim[/name], and the youngest [name]Jamie[/name] so I donāt think you would have an issue if you did not want people to shorten his name. [name]James[/name] is so short anyway that it should really not be an issue.
It isnāt much of a difference, but Iāve always liked [name]Jamie[/name] as a nn for [name]James[/name]!
I had one [name]James[/name] in my class throughout grade school, and another in college. They were both called ā[name]Jimbo[/name]āāI think against their willāby peers. Granted, they did both go by [name]Jim[/name] variants ([name]Jimmy[/name], [name]Jim[/name]), so maybe the ā[name]Jimbo[/name]ā thing only happens if you go by [name]Jim[/name]? All I can say is, I have very strong memories of annoying rowdy boys yelling ā[name]JIMBO[/name]!ā But I think [name]James[/name] (just [name]James[/name], or nn [name]Jamie[/name]) is an awesome name.
I agree itās totally possible! I donāt really know any Jameses, but I think itās completely possible. I donāt know if they really appeal to you, but Iāve heard of [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Jamie[/name] as nns for [name]James[/name], as wellā¦
Good luck!
My husbandās name is [name]James[/name] and goes by [name]James[/name] or [name]Jay[/name] only - always has.
Its possible as long as you insist his name is [name]James[/name] and nothing else. Personally I would never use a nn on someone I didnt know very very well and especially not on a child unless there parents told me they went by a certain nn. I think its rude to assume someones kid [name]Elizabeth[/name] goes by [name]Liz[/name] or [name]James[/name] goes by [name]Jimmy[/name].
It is certainly possible. I never understood the purpose of a nickname for a one syllable name anyhow.
If you insist that he is just called [name]James[/name], then definitely! Although he may want to go by [name]Jim[/name] etc in the future
I know several boys named [name]James[/name], and they all just go by [name]James[/name], except one.
I know a mid-20s [name]James[/name] who has only ever gone by [name]James[/name]. I also know a teenage [name]James[/name] who goes exclusively by [name]Jamie[/name], which is somewhat better than [name]Jimbo[/name] [name]IMO[/name]!
It is possible but youāll need to reinforce this to others that he is only [name]James[/name]. However, as he gets older he may opt to become [name]Jim[/name]/[name]Jimmy[/name] if hears it from peers or whoever.
Although [name]Jem[/name], [name]Jay[/name] or [name]Jamie[/name] would be nice enough nicknames!
My brother is usually a [name]James[/name].
I call him all sorts though. The name related ones being [name]Jay[/name], [name]Jamie[/name], Jimbob (heās a [name]James[/name] [name]Robert[/name], it works), and [name]Jam[/name]-Jar (long story).
But other than me and my sister heās a [name]James[/name] all the time.
Our oldest sonās name is [name]James[/name]. When he was born, my husbandās brother immediately said ā[name]Jimmy[/name]!!!ā when we announced his name. We were very clear from the beginning that weād call him [name]James[/name] and now heās 7 years old and the family wouldnāt think of calling him anything else. Canāt even imagine him as a [name]Jimmy[/name]. Though I will say that I recently visited his 1st grade class and though 99% of kids refer to him as [name]James[/name], I did overhear one boy say [name]Jamie[/name]⦠hoping this doesnāt catch on. But my son prefers [name]James[/name], thatās what he knows. We havenāt had any problems with it, but guessing some people think the name ā[name]James[/name]ā just seems too grown up for a child? I think itāll definitely help out with more and more kids going by formal names vs. nicknames⦠especially with names in which a few generations before would have thought such names were only for adults, i.e. [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], etcā¦
Good luck!
[name]Every[/name] [name]James[/name] Iāve ever known, has gone by [name]Jack[/name]. I never understood why, but I always thought that was the default nickname!
yes, itās possible. [name]Don[/name]'t ever call him anything but [name]James[/name].
Definitely possible. Our two boys, [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name], have yet to be called anything other than their full-names. Iām still holding my breath wondering if thatāll change as we go thru their school years. Hereās hoping!
