Is it really that unattractive?

Hey all,
I have another question

After reading a fan fiction a few weeks ago with the mc named [name_u]Garnet[/name_u], I thought it would make such a unusual, quirky choice for a little girl. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend however commented that she thought it was one of the most unattractive names ever.

Is it really that bad? And then again what is exactly an “attractive name”?

Not at all! Especially since it’s a gemstone, it sounds quite pretty to me.

I automatically think of Darn-it when I hear it. I think it’s just a lot of strong sounds. I like that it’s a gemstone!! It’s just a little hard of a sound for me.

I know a young woman named [name_u]Garnet[/name_u], and I think it’s rather elegant sounding!

I could understand why others would think of it as unattractive, but I personally love the sound and the look of it!

I think [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] is really pretty but I get why some people might think it’s unattractive. But I like that it’s a gem name without being overused like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].

I like it a lot. But I think of the main heroine from FFIX but for me that’s a positive association. And I think only nerds would know that

It has strong sounds, but that doesn’t mean it’s unattractive.

There is no such thing as an attractive or unattractive name; it is completely subjective.

Think of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] the Pest naming her doll Chevrolet, which to me is a beautiful name, like [name_m]Chevalier[/name_m], but most would detest it.

To me, [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] is gorgeous! Doesn’t it come from those lovely pomegranates?

This is why I don’t discuss names with most people.

I LOVE the name [name_u]Garnet[/name_u]!! It’s one of my top names! I don’t think its ugly at all and I’d love to see it more

The book wasn’t [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] Enright’s Thimble [name_f]Summer[/name_f] by chance was it?

I don’t love the sound, but I think it’s perfectly okay and acceptable as a name. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It reminds me of the character [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] from Final [name_f]Fantasy[/name_f] IX, which is a nice association.

Attractiveness in in the eye of the beholder, as they say. [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] is a bit clunky for a name in my opinion but beauty is subjective.

I’d put [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] as a MN option or consider pairing it with a classically feminine softer sounding name (will defer to the numerous name aficionados ) but something like [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] or [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] come to mind. I think sharper sounding girls names might be coming into favor, I’m seeing so many babies named [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]!? I don’t know if you’re into birthstones, but it would be a great way to honor a [name_u]January[/name_u] birthday. There’s lot of Rubys and Emeralds and Pearls, why shouldn’t [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] join in?

I’ve definitely come to see its beauty!

I don’t think [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] is unattractive but it isn’t a favourite of mine I prefer other gemstone names such as [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. Still I think [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] would make a sweet middle name for something like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Susannah[/name_f].

I’ve read the [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] one, I think. Did she have a twin sister called [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or similar?

While it’s not really my style, I don’t think of it as an “ugly” name at all. It sounds sleek and sophisticated to me.

I don’t think it’s ugly, it is definitely not soft or lilting. It’s strong name with a strong color associated with it, and if thats your style I think it could work we’ll. (I think it would make a really cool boys name personally)

I read a book with a male [name_u]Garnet[/name_u], which I was very excited about, but I think I could be nice on a girl, too.
