Yeah…I think you’re thinking about it too much. [name]Octavia[/name] would be fine for a first born. Who cares what the actual meaning is anyway? That would be like saving the name [name]Cecilia[/name], for when you have a blind child. If you like the name…use it.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Octavia[/name]. Go for it!!!

Not at all. I doubt the thought would register, and she has a namesake after all in Ancient [name]Rome[/name], [name]Shakespeare[/name], even [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Spencer[/name].

Btw it’s been fun to watch your taste evolve.

Oh, how I love the name [name]Octavia[/name]!!! I think it’s fine to use for a first born - I’ve known a second-born [name]Octavia[/name].

While a name like [name]Primrose[/name] (my daughters name) may be appropriate, [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is gorgeous!!

Yes, I definitely think you’re over thinking it. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is a beautiful name.

I agree with anton_yelchin_fan that sometimes we can’t be too worried about the meaning of a name.

I have to admit that I think about [name]October[/name] baby, but that’s because I know a lot of Octavias, all born in [name]October[/name]. That’s a common thing in my region (name after the birth month).

[name]Don[/name]'t let that stop you. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is so pretty.

I think it would be weirder to see an 8th child, lol

[name]Octavia[/name] is lovely and sounds great with [name]Catherine[/name]

Lol. I agree! Most people aren’t even having five kids let alone eight, OP. [name]Octavia[/name] is lovely.

I think saving a great name like [name]Octavia[/name] for an 8th kid would be 1) a waste (unless you are planning on 8 kids) 2) odd unless it would also be a mn. I’m hoping for you your daughter is born on the 8th of [name]July[/name] and that way your feeling of conflict would easily be dissolved.

I really think [name]Octavia[/name] is great mn and I wouldn’t worry too much about the meaning. As you mentioned you liked the musical connection to octaves and I think as good a reason to use a name as any. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is beautiful.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is lovely. You are definitely over thinking it.

LOL! Very true. I won’t say you’re overthinking it because we did the same thing with [name]Quintus[/name] for our son. We ended up rationalizing it by the fact that he was being born in [name]July[/name], which was the 5th month in the [name]Roman[/name] calendar … but that’s obviously a stretch. We ended up not using it for other reasons, but I just don’t think those meanings hold up anymore – especially as a middle name. Many of these names are on my list for first names for a possible future daughter, and I’m resigned to being questioned about the meaning and just shrugging it off and saying “Nope, I just love the name!” [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is incredibly beautiful and stunning. [name]Don[/name]'t let anything stop you from using it!!

As a middle name it is very nice!!

[name]Octavia[/name] is striking and beautiful. Definitely not weird on a girl who isn’t an eighth child!

Thanks, everybody! I think I just needed some reassurance. I figured I was just over-thinking it, but now I’m feeling better about the idea.

No, no, absolutely no problem with naming a first daughter [name]Octavia[/name]! If anything, it would be a little trite to have your eighth daughter named [name]Octavia[/name]!

And [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] is lovely
