Is it too much of a mouthful?

I am in love with the name [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. He would go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m], but I’d like a longer name and don’t care for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. My dh isn’t crazy about [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], but likes [name_m]Ben[/name_m], and says if the baby can use his middle name then he is fine with it.
So, name would be [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. Our last name is long, 8 letters and 3 syllables. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it flows ok, or is it too much?

The only other name we like is [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but my oldest daughter goes by Livi, and [name_m]Levi[/name_m]/Livi is so close it kinda makes me not like [name_m]Levi[/name_m] anymore.

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is cute! It may be a long name but he has [name_m]Ben[/name_m] as an option. My name before marriage was really long and it never bothered me. I had a total of 22 letters and he would have 23…

[name_m]Levi[/name_m] is way too close to Livi [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

What about [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] or [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]? [name_m]Will[/name_m] the baby’s middle name be [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] for sure with any first name?

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is easier to say than [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] imho

Good luck!

I’m not crazy about [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], that’s one that we would only use as a middle. I want to use [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], and my dh will only agree is we use dh’s middle name for the baby’s middle. So [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. But we would call him [name_m]Ben[/name_m].

What the first poster said. Or try [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]?

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is just fine!

I love [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]! I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is handsome.

In my opinion the name is not too long. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] is a great name and compromise. I even asked my Hubby and he felt the same.
Good luck!

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is a great choice.

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is perfectly fine, but if I were you I think I’d try to find something that your husband could be just as enthused about. Are there any other names you like that allow for the nickname [name_m]Ben[/name_m]? For example: [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_m]Eben[/name_m], [name_u]Corben[/name_u], [name_m]Benson[/name_m]…

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is just fine. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m].

Thank you everyone for the responses! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] boy may finally have a name!

I think it’s fine. Where names start to get weird is when you have the same number of syllables across all three names. [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] Lastsurname would be 3-3-3, and that can start to feel tedious. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] Lastsurname is 2-3-3 and that helps break up the “rhythm” so it sounds nice.

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], along with the last name, is 8 total syllables. [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] also comes out to 8 total syllables, so you can see it’s really not any shorter. If you REALLY think that 8 total syllables is a problem, objectively the only solution is to select a shorter first and/or middle name, such as [name_m]Cole[/name_m] to stand in for [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] - [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] Lastsurname would be 6 syllables. I really think it’s fine though. One of my kids has a 9-syllable name, and I know of Nameberry babies around here with 11+ syllable names.

So here’s a vote for [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. It sounds like you’re getting the name you love and your husband gets the middle he wants. Everyone wins!

I really like [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] as a combo. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is a mouthful, which I don’t mind, but it doesn’t seem to flow well in my opinion which makes it a little off putting to me. I love the name [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] though!

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is great! It doesn’t seem too long to me at all, and I think it flows really well. Syllable-wise, it’s the same length as something like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] or [name_m]Liam[/name_m] [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], which don’t seem that long at all, honestly.

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is just fine! [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is one of my newest obsessions, and my combo currently is [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], which is even longer! [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is only two syllables, so it can easily sound good with a name one syllables long or three syllables long, or more!
