Is it too weird?

Hello fellow writers!
I wanted to name my character after [name_u]New[/name_u] Orleans as in the story the city has a great significance for her mother. At first Orleans was the obvious choice but then I found out Nouvelle-Orleáns is the [name_u]French[/name_u] name of the city and Nouvelle is actually used as a name. I really like the idea of naming her this but would like to know what you think about it. Does it sound too weird to you? [name_m]Just[/name_m] want to add that the mom is not your usual mom plus she herself has a place name so it would be kind of symbolic.

No I do t think it’s too weird!
I think it’s a really nice name, plus it’s a character so it’s not a real person and you can change the name later if you really want, but even if it wasn’t a character I think it’s a nice name

I don’t think it’s too weird! It’s definitely unique, but I love that there’s a sweet story behind it. :relaxed:

I would go with the more common [name_u]Nouvel[/name_u], but it’s great.

I think Nouvelle works!

Nola would also be an option, as the city often gets abbreviated to NOLA (their official website is even nola.gov)
