Firstly, I love alliteration names. The name we had chosen is [name_u]Callahan[/name_u]. Last name is Coon. I LOVE [name_u]Callahan[/name_u]. We might call him [name_u]Cal[/name_u], too. I’m not sure the name flows perfectly, but I am okay with that as long as it doesn’t sound stupid.
I don’t personally find myself tripping over saying his name or nickname, but I had an acquaintance say it was too choppy (I know, never tell people your name before they are born ) and now I’m second guessing everything. Ugh !
We also like [name_u]Callum[/name_u], but have a friend with a son named this sooo sadly might be off the table.
[name_u]Callahan[/name_u] Coon and [name_u]Callum[/name_u] Coon… I think both are fine. I wouldn’t let a friend having a son named [name_u]Callum[/name_u] stop me. There are plenty of Callums out there. Our children are not snowflakes; they will not melt if they meet someone with the same name!
[name_f]My[/name_f] girlfriend in HS and I were thrilled because my middle name was [name_f]Diane[/name_f] and hers was [name_f]Denise[/name_f] and when [name_u]Shaun[/name_u] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] sang “Hey Dini” (sp?), we both felt he was singing to us. The silly things that bother adults do not bother kids!
I do think [name_u]Callum[/name_u] Coon / [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] Coon flow a lot better then [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] Coon / [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] Coon. (All the L’s and C sounds are messing with the flows I think) But flow shouldn’t necessarily be any determining factor though…. Go with what you like better. Regardless of flow or which friend has utilized it.
Any middle names suggestions you think would help with the flow of [name_u]Callahan[/name_u]? I’m not too too worried about it only because I don’t think we will really ever be calling him his full name
It’s a little choppy, but I don’t think it’s too choppy. I prefer Callahan!! Now, I do think [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] Coon is a bit too choppy, mostly because [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and Coon are both one syllable, and have strong L and C sounds like [name_u]Callahan[/name_u].
Some middle name ideas for [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] Coon:
[name_u]Daniel[/name_u]
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_m]Darrow[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_u]Pascal[/name_u]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_m]Leandro[/name_m]
Its fine. Coon is “choppy” by nature and if anything [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] softens it. Random but [name_u]Cal[/name_u] Coon does remind me a little of Cancun soundwise. Definitely usable.
Haha!! Yes, I get the cancun cal coon sound alike. Thankfully that doesn’t really bother me since [name_u]Cal[/name_u] will just be a nickname (unless he grows up and decides himself he only wants to go by Cal!). I know a [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] Coon who sometimes goes by [name_u]Cam[/name_u] and i figure [name_u]Cam[/name_u] Coon sounds way more like Cancun than CalCoon so if he can pull it off why not
I think avoiding one syllable with the heavy L or C would be idea. As I’m brainstorming I also find myself avoiding ones that end in N as the flow
Is then affected by the three names with the same ending. If you like [name_u]Lee[/name_u] then [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] Coon even would help a bit. I do like some of those suggested above also adding:
i think it’s just fine! callahan nn cal is just gorgeous, callahan coon is catchy! the only snag would be him going officially by his nickname, cal coon is a bit cocoon / cancun, but its nothing horrible. i really really love it!
what about [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Leon[/name_u] Coon or [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] [name_u]Leon[/name_u] Coon. The extra syllable makes all the difference, and [name_u]Leon[/name_u] is very close to [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
Thanks for the suggestion! [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is an honor name so I wouldn’t want to alter it. All of our other honor names end in ‘n’ and I kinda feel like all 3 names shouldn’t end in an ‘n’ sound
