Is Ivy Becoming Too Popular?

I am almost certain I’m going to name one of my twin daughters [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but it’s rising popularity is worrying me a bit (seriously, go check out that trajectory!)

Is it too late for [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], or does she still have potential as a unique vintage name?

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is a lovely name but hardly unique and certainly popular. [name_m]How[/name_m] popular is too popular depends on you, and for lots of people it’s just not an issue. And popular names now are much less used than popular names in the past.

It’s getting more and more popular where I live (Australia) although there’s a reason, it’s a beautiful name! I considered it for my daughter but to be honest its increasing use led to me eliminating it as an option. I guess you just have to decide if popularity bothers you or not. Also, statistics can demonstrate a name’s popularity but it doesn’t mean it will necessarily be widely used where you live. You might use it and find you never/rarely come across another one!
