Is Jaybird ; usable?

I tried to look this name up on nameberry but for some reason nothing loads…
Im STILL trying to find a middle name for Salem, because its turned to my favorite first name- but I can’t find a combo with it I love as much as my others.

is Jaybird usable as a middle name? does your family say “naked as a jaybird” or just mine lol
My mom picked J names for all of us her name is Julie, my sister is Jessica and I’m Jenileigh.
and my mother in laws nickname was Bird, so I thought it was a good combo of the two.
Salem Jay doesn’t sound bad, but I need something a little more sing songy…if that makes sense, and the babies last name is a color that starts with B . not blue or black…

To me, anything is usable as a middle! I think it would make a quirky, fun middle :slight_smile:

How about Bluejay? It’s a type of bird and would avoid the awkward expression. That said, I’ve never heard of “naked as a jaybird” but I am in the UK so maybe that’s why? I don’t think Jaybird is unusable at all, it’s actually pretty cool!

I think nearly anything is usable as middle, and I’ve never heard the saying. With that in mind, I saw go for it— [name_u]Salem[/name_u] Jaybird is fab!

For a middle I think its ok even with the idiom. [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe Jayden?

I’m on the team “almost everything works as a middle name”, and I do like Jaybird. I’m not familiar with the say, but I’m not American. I think the name is a nice way to honor both your mother and your mother-in-law. [name_u]Salem[/name_u] Jaybird is quite cool.

immediately thought “naked as a jaybird” before i saw the question! also very reminiscent of “jailbird” for me (which is, i think, where the expression comes from)

I’d personally just use [name_u]Jay[/name_u], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], or [name_m]Jake[/name_m], or maybe Jaybird as a middle name? I don’t know I’m not too fond of it personally but if you like it go for it.

Not a native [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker, and I’ve never heard of “naked as a jaybird”.

I think it’s really cool and I love [name_u]Salem[/name_u] Jaybird! I have heard the phrase “naked as a jaybird” but I don’t think it would be the first thing people thought of.
