is Joy dated?

I’ve only meet two people named [name_f]Joy[/name_f] in my entire life, so I have no real gauge of how dated it might be.

What would you think of the name [name_f]Joy[/name_f] on a little girl born in the next 5 years? Would it sound dated, or fresh, or somewhere in between? What are your thoughts on [name_f]Joy[/name_f] in general?

I’d be thrilled to meet a little [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. I personally prefer it in the middle spot though. I think it sounds fresh.

I only know two as well. Both fifties. So while I only know Joys from a specific age group, it’s such a small number I don’t really feel like it’s dated.

I don’t think so.

I’ve never known anyone named [name_f]Joy[/name_f], but even if it was “dated”, older names are coming back into style and I think it’s lovely!

It is dated [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Only Joys I know are 40+. I lump [name_f]Joy[/name_f] in with [name_f]Donna[/name_f], [name_f]Barbara[/name_f], [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f], etc.

I personally don’t care for [name_f]Joy[/name_f], with it being my middle name and all, and I definitely don’t like it as a middle b/c to me it just seems like filler.
As for your question about it being dated: I have only met one person named [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and she went to high school with me and we graduated in 2010. So I guess a little girl could get away with it.

I do think it’s a little dated, personally. It’s probably better in the middle name slot, but I don’t think it would be terrible as a first name. If older names are coming back it might sound fresh in a year or two.

I know one and she would be 32. There was a little girl [name_f]Joy[/name_f] in a movie I watched recently. It seems like a religious name to me even though I know it isnt.

It does feel dated to me. Not old-fashioned chic, more like a 60s/70s name. I do still think it could be lovely in the middle spot.

I think it’s almost ready for a revival. It could definitely be cool again, especially with the right (quirky) middle…

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is lovely. I know a [name_f]Joy[/name_f] who is 31 and its a middle name of another person I know who is 36(ish). I think it would be refreshing to meet a young [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! I also enjoy the Italian version of [name_f]Joy[/name_f]- [name_f]Gioia[/name_f]!

I’ve never met a [name_f]Joy[/name_f], so I can’t say if it’s dated or not. At my work I see a lot of names and it seems there isn’t really an certain age range that I see [name_f]Joy[/name_f] belonging too, they tend to vary. It’s a lot more popular in the middle spot- up there with [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. So if I would say dated I would say 80’s middle name if anything. I personally love the name and have [name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] and [name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] on my list.
