[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I am loving the name [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f], but my fear is that it will forever be associated with the Duggar’s stillborn baby, [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] [name_u]Shalom[/name_u]. Is that too much of a connection, or is it wearable? Thanks
I think the sound and meaning are too appealing for it to remain associated with the Duggar baby forever. I have friends with a [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], which seems to be finding fans despite the (even stronger, in my mind) celebrity association.
To be honest, I had no idea they even used the name! I think you’re probably safe.
I don’t think so, I love [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]. No more so than any of the other Duggar names ([name_u]Jordyn[/name_u], [name_f]Jessa[/name_f], [name_f]Johannah[/name_f], etc.)
As a watcher of the show, it is too Duggar for me, and I would have that reaction to a lot of the names like [name_f]Jinger[/name_f], [name_f]Jana[/name_f], [name_f]Jessa[/name_f], [name_f]Johannah[/name_f]. I am also not a fan of the name in general, but I think the Duggar connection will fade with time if you really do love it.
I immediately associate it with the annoying X-Men character. Overall, I’m just not a fan of this name.
While I’m not a fan of the name, I don’t associate it with the Duggars. Now, if you were to have 12 more children and name them all something J-related, than that would be different.
Uh, that seems like a pretty stupid reason not to use a name. Bad American TV is not the turning point of the world, and although I’ve seen the show a few times I don’t think I can name even one of their children, never mind their stillborn baby.
It’s FAR more linked to the word, which is well-used in the UK thanks to the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] which are fairly regular. Its a beautiful word, though.
I think of the X-Men character too. :ugeek:
I do really love it for a middle name though. If it’s used as a first name, [name_u]Julie[/name_u] is a good normal nickname. [name_f]Bee[/name_f] is cute and [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is tomboyish.
I don’t think it’s too bad. If you chose [name_f]Jinger[/name_f] and [name_f]Jana[/name_f] for twins, theeeeen you might have a problem.
I’m a huge fan of the British royal family so I think of the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s Jubilees first too (especially the [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] one a couple years ago, splendid beautiful events!). It’s a great connection to have, in my opinion. I don’t watch or follow the Duggars so didn’t think of them at all.
I would bet the vast majority of people no longer remember that the Duggars’ stillborn daughter was named [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]. Maybe a few devout Duggars fans and name nerds who take note of every celebrity baby names announcement. I don’t think it’s a problem. I like [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]!
I didn’t know about the association with the Duggars. I can’t imagine it having a huge impact on her life.
I actually think it’s really sweet. It’s a little too out there for me to have it high on my list, but I do think it’s beautiful!
I say go for it if you love it!
I think of the X-men character. I have a twin brother, so yeah. LOL!
I don’t care for it as a name personally, but it’s certainly usable.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] as a name and have considered it myself! I do not think of the Duggars – never watched the show – or the X-men character, and I tend to be someone with strong/weird name association issues. And while some nn you could get out of this are kinda hideous – juby? Juju? – [name_u]Billie[/name_u] and [name_u]Jules[/name_u] are lovely. Though I’d want to use her full name all the time – you never know what she or others might do! Nice to have a good, solid nickname on standby.
Not at all. I met 2 little [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]'s before the Duggars used the name.
Thanks, everyone! I’ve never actually heard of the X-Men character so that’s not a huge problem. I never knew about [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]. Thanks for the feedback!
