DH and I really like the name Kedemah (Kuh-dee-muh) for a little girl, but my mom said it reminded her of edema. Edema is a swelling of the feet often during pregnancy, but is that common knowledge? What do y’all think?

I didn’t think of that! I don’t think people will unless you bring it up. And most kids, the people who would most likely do the teasing, don’t know what edema is.
I’ve never heard of edema.

I would not have pronounced it that way from the spelling. Kadeema gives it that pronunciation and cadence. Kedemah reads (to me) as KEH-dehm-ma.
Kadeema / Kadima are clearer spellings.
In any case, unfortunately, no I very much do not like name.
