A name we have been tossing around is [name_u]Kit[/name_u] lately. Could this work as a standalone? I am not interested in [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], just [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. I am kind of hoping with the [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] short name trends, this could work.
What do you think?
EDIT: Thank you for the input everyone! Kit is definitely on our hospital list with Alden! What would you use as a middle? We were thinking maybe Augustine?
Yes, I think [name_u]Kit[/name_u] can stand alone. As you have mentioned, there are children named [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Remy[/name_u]/[name_u]Rory[/name_u], which all have a “nicknamey” feel to them, so [name_u]Kit[/name_u] can definitely stand alone. On a side note, I think [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u] can work as well, if you are looking for a long version.
I think it works! If names like [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] work, I don’t see why [name_u]Kit[/name_u] wouldn’t! It’s a great name
It’s funny reading the previous posts as I have two little boys named [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and I’m currently pregnant with baby boy no. 3 and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are my absolute favourites. So clearly I don’t see a problem at all with nickname style names! Haha
I would use [name_u]Kit[/name_u] in a heartbeat if my husband didn’t think it was a little too feminine. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure I’m going to convince him otherwise. But you should definitely use it! It’s a handsome name.
It’s funny my husband and I have only ever agreed on maybe 5 names haha! And he likes [name_u]Kit[/name_u]! [name_u]Alden[/name_u] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] are going to be our two “take to the hospital names” and just see which one fits when we get there. I love your kids names btw!
I live in the UK, which is nickname territory, so absolutely! I know so many children with nicknames as their full names, and no-one bats an eyelid over here. It might be different in other countries, though.
I have one and I know a couple of others (it’s rising fast here in the UK - grr!) Obviously, I love it
I am asked quite frequently what it’s short for, or if it’s short for [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (as in the case of one of the others I know), but that’s not the end of the world. I do also get the occasional “Oh, she’s lovely!” when I tell people the name, but again, I don’t really mind it.
Both of your options are great. I also really like [name_u]Alden[/name_u], especially with your other boys’ names - it’s sort of bohemian yet solid, and stands up really well to them.
Awesome thank you everyone!! What do you think of the name [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m]? Or could you suggest a similar middle (Preferably a saint name), I like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] but he doesnt…
I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. (And [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m] from your sig is lovely.) With so many short names [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Ari[/name_u] ect. I don’t see a problem with it. However, I do think [name_u]Alden[/name_u] “matches” more with the older brother names.
I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. And I think [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] is a nice combination. If we have a boy this time, I’m probably naming him [name_m]Kip[/name_m]; we have similar taste my husband’s name is [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] and I like the connection without sharing the same name.
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] can work just fine on its own. [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m] is fantastic, so mischievous and adorable, and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] is just as lovely.
